Okay so I've been reading all day about this and I know we've kind of talked about it but I'm genuinely curious who thinks it's gonna happen tomorrow?
Also here's some funny quotes from an NPR article
http://www.npr.org/2011/05/07/136053462/is-the-end-nigh-well-know-soon-enough"Camping is not the first person to fix a date for the end of the world. There have been dozens of such prophets, and
so far, they've all been wrong."
-
Is it really necessary to indicate that the world hasn't ended yet? I think we're all quite aware
Now they are in Orlando, in a rented house, passing out tracts and reading the Bible. Their daughter is 2 years old, and their second child is due in June. Joel says they're spending the last of their savings. They don't see a need for one more dollar.
"You know, you think about retirement and stuff like that," he says. "What's the point of having some money just sitting there?"
"We budgeted everything so that, on May 21, we won't have anything left," Adrienne adds.
So what happens when there is no rapture tomorrow and they have nothing left?
Also why would you impregnate your wife with a baby you know isn't going to be born?
Okay, who the hell said they're 100% it's happening? I'm curious.

This is probably a stupid question but yours made me think of it. Are Christians and the denominations of Christianity the only ones who think this is happening or does this belief span other religions and if so which ones?
ETA- as for the article about them spending all their savings. I can't even think of doing that having a child and one on the way. Maybe go on a miner shopping spree or something to enjoy but I would not ever take my entire savings (if I had one) just because 'some' people thought the world was going to end.
"However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows." - Matthew 24:36
So, these folks have either missed this part or they're making it up.
I do feel really bad for these people. My mom told me when she was little and the 7th Day Adventists predicted the rapture, people were waiting on top of their houses and nothing happened. I can't imagine that kind of disappointment, it would be soul crushing. Especially after giving up everything you've worked for in your life.

I know right?
I think it's a load of crap. This same guy was wrong in 1994 so meh. Plus correct me if I am wrong but doesn't it say somewhere in the bible that there will be no time and only god himself knows? or something along those lines.
If it does happen well at least I had an amazing few years with FI and I will be with my boys.
Edit. AHA AATB put the verse I was thinking about!
If these numbers are of relevance please enlighten me. (no sarcasm seriously)

Great now I have that song stuck in my head again.

Out of genuine curiousity not judgment, are you doing anything different/have you done anything different this last week in preparation?
Christmas Island is Saturday May 21st 1:30 PM

Didn't we witness that when they got Osama?
In Response to Re: May 21, 2011- The Rapture : The first rapture earthquake will occur somewhere around New Zealand at around 11 pm PST tonight (6 pm Saturday, their time), according to the wackadoodle.

Hmm...I guess I'll catch up with the news in the morning then. I'm not staying up till 2 am.
I do think it's a load, and that this Camping person is crazypants, but there is a tiny voice deep down inside that is saying, "But what if...?" And dammit, I want to get married and go to Jamaica, and that's only 6 weeks away, so this Rapture thing is going to have to wait.

I believe so!
I'm actually kind of sad I haven't seen that many Rapture bulletin boards. I did see one of the side of a bus, though. I want to be that bus driver!
I look forward to Sunday morning.

It's on Facebook? Damn it, now it's really going to happen.
Whoa I just had a thought provoking thought (redundant I know). Say a rapture by time zone is actually something that could occur someday with everyone's forewarning. Theoretically wouldn't it then make it possible to avoid rapture by hopping a plane that flies around the earth through each time zone missing the appointed hour in each location until the end of the rapture occurred? Or am I drinking the crazy koolaid again?
Posted by kodakitty
That's like trying to to fly time zones quick enough to trick Santa into giving you double gifts. Completely crazy.
