Escort/Place Cards

Do we have a general discussion about this somewhere else?  If not, what is everyone planning for escort/place cards/seating charts in general?  Trying to decide how we're going to handle this since people have made meal selections.

We were thinking of cards in 3 different colors (green, peach and white {since the first two are our colors}) to indicate the choices to the servers easily with table numbers and then numbers at each tables....and just printing them with the computer (we're thinking more efficient and easy instead of creative at this point!).

Re: Escort/Place Cards

  • I got the matching place cards with my invitations.  We will print the names on clear labels since I can't write pretty lol.  HandwritingTable number at the bottom, and F, C, T, K on the back for Filet, Chicken, Tortellini, Kids meal.

  • I went to a wedding a couple of years ago where they did that! Their colors were pink and brown, so they did pink for chicken, brown for beef.

  • This is what ours look like, except they will have tiffany blue riibbon instead of the white.  Also, they will say guests' names instead of 22 inches of ribbon LOL!  We do not have to indicate on the escort cards who is having which meal, the servers come around and take orders.  Also, guests can re-order their meal choice at the reception (they don't have to remember what they originally picked).

  • The other option we were thinking is if you already have pre-printed cards you could use cute little stickers in the corner in different shapes or color to indicate preference while allowing you to customize with your theme. :-)

  • I think there was a thread yesterday asking about escort cards too.  I took part of the design of our invites and made business cards/escort cards on VP.  I will be handwriting the names and table numbers with a calligraphy pen.  I will stamp the meal choice with these:

I was at a wedding this weekend where they did standard placecards and had a little bride & groom stamp.  They did green for chicken and black for beef.  Everyone at the table was confused but I knew right away & explained it to them.....I also found myself counting the chairs at tables and commenting on the centerpieces.  Goodness I need this wedding to be over!

Here is what we are doing.  Our venue has asked for meal choices by table in advance so there is no need to indicate them on the escort card.  Prior to the wedding we just need to let them know that table 3 had 5 beef and 3 chicken.
