Vendor Reviews

This board was extremely helpful to me at times so here are my reviews:

Ft. Myer Officer's Club ***** made it so easy, everything was amazing including, food, drink, DJ, location, flowers.  The only negative- we ran out of food at cocktail hour- could have been that my guests ate too much!  We also held the cermony here- room setup was perfect.  Staff was extremely professional and helpful.

Officiant: Rev. Jim Birch ***** was perfect, personable and the guests loved the cermony.  We recieved many compliments on how special, personal and memorable the cermony was.

Flowers: Royal Florist in Springfield, VA.  ***** Gorgeous and reasonable.

Cake: Heidleburg Bakery ***** Delicous!  Every piece got eaten and guests loved it.  We ordered extra small cake for us and it is already gone :)

Favors: Cookies in the shape of pugs by Mother's Macroons in Arlington, VA. ***** Shortbread covered in white and dark chocolate.  Tasty and guests loved them.

Dress Alterations: Angie **** great and easy to work with.

Hair: Salon Roche in Georgetown.  ***** Romano is a master with hair and worth every penny.

Mani Pedi ***** Elizabeth Arden Willard Hotel: wonderful, relaxing and lasted through last week of planning and the wedding!

Photographer: Ferry Huang.  ***** Very easy to work with and reasonable.  Personally I found having my picture taken so much annoying because I wanted to enjoy the party but I think that's my issue- not his!

Hotel: Sherton National Arlington, VA.  ***** Very easy to work with.  Nice rooms, helpful even though hotel was overbooked almost entire week.  Great views of DC.

It went so fast..... best to all of you!

Can I ask who, specifically, your DJ was? We're getting married at Ft. Myer July 10, and the DJ situation has been nothing but a PAIN! I'm glad to hear everything else went great!

Swizzlestick: the DJ's name was Tom.  JK Music Productions.  Oh the other thing was make sure you have several copies of your list of guests for MPs/ security.  We also made apoint to drop off copies ourselves to MPs.  We are frequently on and off base but this made guests entrance much smoother. They did search cars but it faciliatated the process.  I do have one negative review I forgot to mention because I was so upset: Men's Warehouse for tuxes- disaster- I will do a separate post on that.  Good luck and enjoy your day!

Oh! So glad to hear that - Tom is the one doing our wedding as well. We've had a BEYOND disastrous experience working with John directly and I strongly suggested he send another one of his DJs, so I'm glad to hear Tom was good! How much leeway did you give him with the play list? We are preparing to have a very detailed play list, just in case we needed it.

We're doing a shuttle - but I suppose I should still give them a list, in case anyone decides to drive? Thanks for the head's up.

We just told him we love 80s music, Frank Sinatra and love to dance.  He didn't play that many slow songs but so many people were dancing that I think he just went with what the crowd wanted!  We are really laid back so we just let him do his thing... and trusted that since he is the DJ and he/ they do this more than we do and they know better what the crowd wants.  He did ask us to move the toast  to 9:00pm, before cake cutting and we did right then and there and it worked out fine.  It was originally 9:15 after cake cutting.  People have been telling us how great it was and that we really know how to throw a fun amazing wedding- and really it was the O'Club and their people that made it so easy and smooth.  People were dancing nonstop and when it ended at 11:00pm there were still over 75/140 people there!  I hope you have the same experince.
