Wedding Party

Flower girls

MIL wants all 6 of her nieces in the wedding party as part of the wedding. I also wants my two nieces to be my flower girls, Im trying to find a way that we can figure out something fair for all 8 girls to do 2 of the girls are older so we plan on them being junior bridesmaids but the 6 younger ones im a loss.

Re: Flower girls

  • OP, I feel your pain. I have three sisters and FI has five sisters and two brothers. I would love to include all of our numerous siblings but it's just not feasible. I think I'm already pushing it by having nine BM's (to include all of my sisters and best friends) but I'm drawing the line there. FI's youngest sister who is twelve really wants to be the FG. I think she's too old and by the time the wedding rolls around, she'll be over it, so I'm just leaving it be for now.

  • Your MIL doesn't get to choose the bridal party ... that's for you to do to include the friends and family YOU are closest to. And if that doesn't include your MIL's nieces (weird request, BTW), she'll just need to get over it.

  • I think 8 FGs is way too many. I would personally choose my own nieces. Maybe FI can have some nephews be ring bearers? I can't really think of what other role you could assign to FMIL's nieces..
  • If you really want to include all of them, one of my friends got married and instead of flower girls, she had "Girls with Bells"  They each carried a little want or dowel and had some of those tiny jingle bells on the end.  They got to ring them down the aisle.  It was quite cute and something different.
