Don't know who to have in my bridal party!!!

I just recently got engaged and I'm at a total lost who to choose.  I know my MHO will be my sister but a have 4 other gf and I could have in my bridal party.  The problem is that I don't want all 4 but do not want to leave any behind.  Is it better to just have my MHO and have special tasks for the 4 other gf?  They will all be part of the planning and be in the pictures...I guess it's just a question as to whether or not they walk down the isle with me or not.

    Your wedding is in 2013.  This is not something that you sould decide on until much closer to your wedding.  Like 8-12 months or so just in case you have some relationship changes.

    And the "special tasks" thing needs to be crossed off your idea list.  They're either in the WP or they're guests.  Anything that you try to make "special" will come across as consolation prize-ish.

    Congrats!!

    My sister is my MOH as well.  You cant really have "tasks" for the other girls and not include them in the WP IMO.

    Your wedding is a looooongggg time away so you do not need to be asking anyone right now.  Things can change and too many times we have seen stories on here about asking girl to be in your WP so far in advance and then later having to kick one of them out b/c they grew apart or had a falling out, etc.

    I would wait awhile before I made any decisions.

    Wait to choose your WP. It is totally fine to think about who you would like to have. But please don't ask them now. Friendships and things can change in that length of time.

    It's fine to just have a MOH and that's it.

    Don't assign tasks to anyone or try and come up with a title/role to make them feel better. It's fine to include them in group photos at the wedding, but don't make them Honorary Bridesmaids/House Party/Guestbook Attendants/whatever.

    If they volunteer to help you with the planning, awesome - thank them for their help and maybe do something nice for them (a note, treat them to dinner or drinks, give them a small gift).

    Ditto those who said to wait about 10 months prior to your set-in-stone wedding date to choose your bridal party. A lot will happen between now and then.

    Totally agree with pps. Wait to pick your BP. If your wedding is 2 years away, I can guarantee that your relationships will change. It is wise to wait; there is nothing BM-related that can't wait till a year out. 

    As far as your question goes, it is just fine to only have a MOH. If you want your other friends in pictures, you can still do it. They don't need a special dress or title to be included in that. But I wouldn't suggest giving them "tasks". Nobody enjoys those and it would be better to just make them BMs if you want to include them in your wedding.

    Uh oh..What about if someone was thinking of having some people do readings? Or being Ushers? Is this no longer the norm...? =/ I was thinking of doing this, but havn't made any plans as of yet!
