Movie Review: Julie and Julia

Julie Powell is obnoxious. I hope that Amy Adams just did a bad job portraying her, instead of her just being so pathetic in real life. I was annoyed that people were like "this is a good movie!" I love Amy Adams, and I love Meryl Streep. Sh!t, they should have just called the movie Julia and focused on Julia Child.

The only reason I wanted to see this movie was for Meryl Streep playing Julia Child.  Were the Julia parts good?

I was disappointed too. I also read the book and I really wanted to punch Julie in the face. It was a good book, but she's really whiney.

Also, she had a maggots in her kitchen because it was so dirty IRL. It's in the book. puke.

Amen.  I loved Meryl Streep as Julia Child.  Loved her.

Apparently, Julie Powell IRL is even worse than what Amy Adams portrayed.  Check out the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Cleaving-Story-Marriage-Meat-Obsession/product-reviews/0316003360/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1" rel="nofollow">www.amazon.com/Cleaving-Story-Marriage-Meat-Obsession/product-reviews/0316003360/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1</a>"><font color="#993366">reviews for her second book</font> sometime.

I liked the Julia parts. I didn't know a lot about Julia Child's background before the movie and it was interesting to watch, and makes me want to pick up a biography on her. DH was a sh!thead though during the movie and made fun of her voice. But overall, I think Meryl did a good job pulling off Julia.

PMeg - I TOTALLY would recommend that. I've seen the food network bio show of her and Julia Child's life was fascinating. I bet a book would  be awesome.

I puffy-heart loved the scene where they met Irma Rombauer.  I think Frances Sternhagen is delightful in every role I've ever seen her in.

yes, cliffy's mom is awesome.  jane lynch as julia child's sister is delightful, too.

julie powell needs to be hit by a bus.  "cleaving" was awful.  i know this is said a lot, but i really feel sorry for her husband.  that poor man.

Meryl Streep was just AWESOME as Julia.  I LOVE to cook, and the movie made me want to buy her cookbook.  Julie was annoying though.
