2:30 wedding

Does a wedding at 2:30 require a dinner or reception afterwards? Would appetizers be appropriate?

Re: 2:30 wedding

  • I would serve dinner.  Unless you're reception is super short, its going to fall during dinner hours.

  • most will probably expect a meal, but you coudl get away with heavy apps.  if you do a dinner, it shoudl start right away - dont do a 2-3 hour gap.
  • If you're going to do it right aftward, you could get away with apps, or even punch and cake.

  • Whether or not dinner is required depends on how long you would like the reception to go for. If it starts at three and lasts for four hours, it will cross a dinner hour, and people will want to eat, so yes you should feed them. I'm not sure as to whether or not a reception is "required," but I would certainly say that one is appropriate, even if it's very simple and low-key.
  • Punch & cake is fine, so are apps. Just make sure it ends before dinner time (5ish).
  • My wedding will be at 2:30, reception to follow.  But our reception will only be 1 1/2 hours long, so we are doing light apps and cake.  We will have mead to drink and maybe punch for those not wanting mead.  We're not serving dinner because we are having the wedding at a place where our guests can get dinner after the reception if they choose to stay or they can leave and still have time to get dinner.
