Who's IS or IS Not doing their own make up?

I've been debating this a lot.  I don't think I can afford another extra in my budget, but I really don't want to have to do my own make up on the big day.  I also have a friend who is willing to do my make-up, but after one trial run I am very worried if it will turn out ok.  I don't know what is best to do.

So just curious what everyone else is doing for make-up (or did for make-up)
Who is doing their own make-up?
Who is having a friend do it?
Who is having it professionally done and by who?

My sister/MOH did my make-up for my wedding day. I don't regret it at all. She did an excellent job and we had several trial runs.

If you look down through some of the threads, you will find some good rec's for make-up artists.

Definitely NOT doing my own make up. I need as much help as I can get.  I am trying to get one of my BM's friends to do it, who is a make up artist.

I hired Allison Feamster. I want the full package for my wedding day, and what better time to have your make-up professionally done in your life?

I used MelissaRoshan. Even though I would trust myself, I felt more comfortable having a professional experienced in makeup for photography. MelissaRoshan not only does brides, she does models, magazine spreads, commercials, and  does some modeling herself. I loved her and her work!

Ditto! I think I am paying around $150 for the airbrushing with Alison, but it is definitely worth it to me. I don't want to look back at my pictures and regret not having my make up done professionally.

My cousin has worked for Dior and now Bobby Brown down in Cinci so she will be doing my wedding day make-up.

PS Dior has this airbrush-like foundation that I now use on a daily basis because it gives such a flawless finish.  Great if you plan on doing your own makeup for e-pics and other special events.

    I'm hiring a makeup artist.

I feel that hi-def/wedding makeup is different from every day makeup and I just didn't trust myelf to do it no matter how much I love to put on makeup on a daily basis.

If you're on the fence, ask if you can just purchase a trial and come to them, then take pictures of your face both indoors and outdoors, and then the next day, DIY your makeup, do the same.  Compare.

I'm definitely NOT doing my own makeup! I figure it is my one big special day so I might as well have someone else do it so I can look perfect on my wedding day! I actually found a girl who works at Macy's at the Shishedo makeup counter who does free lance makeup. She did a fabulous job on my sister's makeup (she was in a event macy's was having one day and had to get her makeup done) and she is very affordable. I also know that my friend who got married last year used someone who worked at one of the makeup places at macy's also. Some of them do free lance work and do a great job, and for a great price!

I'm hiring a makeup artist. I thought about doing it myself to save money, but it's just something I don't want to have to worry about doing perfectly that day.  It's $60 with no travel fees and a free trial. She's great!
