Favorite place you've traveled to?

I've got a bit of travel fever right now. I think it's probably my equivalent of baby fever. I've been researching and researching like crazy new places I want to go.

I'm on a Las Vegas kick right now.

The only places I've traveled to outside of the Southeast are inland Mexico, Paris, and Barcelona. My favorite was Barcelona, I think.

So... what places are your favorites? What should I put in my travel box for more research?

I love Vegas. I don't know why. I think I like the over-the-top-ness. We stayed at the Flamingo last time, and it was a nice room with a view of the pool. The pool is pretty awesome there, too.

I think my favorite place is Hawaii. I've mostly only been to Waikiki, and unfortunately, it's changed a lot over the last few years. I hope maybe next year we can go to Maui.

I also really enjoyed Costa Rica. We were able to see and do a lot of different things for the money. The people were really nice, and it was just so different than anything I've seen in the US.

I should also say that our HM in Mexico (Playa del Carmen) was pretty awesome, but we didn't go off the resort very much.

OMGHI NARWHAL!!!!!!!

My favorite place were Bath, York and Covent Gardens in England

Both are very artsy, fun places with lots to see and do and the food is good. People have tons of misconceptions about British food, but I quite liked it!

Ack! I forgot London. I was only there a few days for work, but I loved it. The tube is so convenient. You can just zip from place to place. The British Museum was fantastic.

I love Rome. But I'm totally a Latin/Roman history geek... so it's to be expected! I really enjoyed Pompeii too. I would go back to Italy again in a heartbeat... if only I had money.

Amsterdam is probably my favorite place. It has something for everyone. There are plenty of museums, historical buildings, and performing arts theaters. If you want something a little more wild, you can visit a "coffee shop" or one of the many bars. It's a gorgeous city, too. The canals and the architecture are amazing.

hi! No, I don't live in Charleston, I'm all the way in the other direction in Greenville. But we do go to Charleston a few times a year if we can swing it.

I know it by heart.

I'm looking at everything! I really want to go to Kenya.

Narwhal - My parents complained about the food in England being terrible. They also went in the mid-'70s, and I think it has improved a lot.

Yaga - We stayed at the Royal Playa del Carmen. It's beautiful and right in town, so we were able to walk around.

I wasn't too thrilled with London, it was ok. I love Paris, and I miss it dearly. I would check out italy, venice, florence, rome. So much to do there. I lived in Italy for two months during grad school I got to see a lot of it

Hi, I don't really have one favorite place because I love traveling so much. It's more of a case of listing the few places that I dislike or wouldn't go back to. Anthony Bourdain has my dream job. Some top picks:

1. Copenhagen - I loved this city, so beautiful. I actually thought it was more stylish than Paris. I'd love to go back to Scandinavia. The downside is that it is incredibly expensive factoring in the exchange rate, the high taxes, and the high cost-of-living. Alcohol is highly taxed. Also, stay in a different hotel than I did because it was in a sketchy neighborhood and had bedbugs. The Tivoli Gardens was the best amusement park I've ever been to, I rode a roller coaster during a rock concert and ate really tasty ice cream while waiting in the lines. There was lots of fresh seafood. Very beautiful mix of modernism and history everywhere. Very modern transport links. We easily hopped the train to Sweden.

2. London - I second what everyone else said. I lived in that city for 4 years. Lots of fantastic things to do, every neighborhood is different, no two visits are the same. Also, it's true that British food has gone way up since Gordon Ramsay and his pals started winning Michelin stars. There is just wonderful vibrant diversity. Covent Garden is indeed fantastic and if I had to live in a museum, it would be the British Museum. There are also lots of wonderful parks. It's a very walkable city and there are pubs everywhere for when you need a break. Definitely stroll the Southbank both during the day and at night. Also, check out Piccadilly Circus at night. If you venture out of town, Richmond-upon-Thames and Hampton Court Palace are lovely during the day.

3. Croatia - I have a particular soft spot for this country, but it is paradise on earth. It's Italy meets Greece meets Austria meets Eastern Europe (I love all of those too). The Dalmatian Coast is truly exquisite and there is really something for everyone. I absolutely loved swimming in the Adriatic, it's my favorite summer gym. There are a lot of Roman ruins that are really awesome like the ampitheatre at Pula, Diocletian's Palace in Split, and Solin which is a hidden gem - an abandoned Roman city that you can reach by bus and with a walk down a dusty lane. Just be sure to bring your own water! It's literally ruins in a field.

One favorite place? Oh god I can't piiiick. LOL

Let's see here. My Vegas trip was epic. It was also the first time I had ever gone anywhere that required me to fly on a plane, so bonus points for that.

The first time I ever traveled internationally (except Canada, and when you live in upstate NY Canada doesn't count), I went to Japan. I'd say...yeah, Japan probably wins for being my favorite favorite. That wasn't just a vacation, it was a life-changing experience. Great cities, amazing architecture, places where ancient history and modern life merge seamlessly. I'd love to go back, though the radiation risk has me a little scared to now.

And then I went on my first cruise earlier this year and fell in love with Grand Cayman. Blue skies, white sand, BRIGHT turquoise water, and 85 degrees in January. Perfect. Just perfect.

Ah traveling, I love it!

Top places I would go again are:
1. Ireland. The city wasn't that awesome but oh the countryside!!! Love it! Glendlough was amazing!!!
2. (these aren't in order just what is coming to my mind) Scotland. Fricken awesome!!
3. Germany, I love the country side especially in the Black Forest but Berlin is wicked awesome.
4. Switzerland is so amazing! If you love awesome mountains...go here.
5. Paris. Really I love Paris, so many cool things to do

God I miss Europe....

My favorite city (after NYC of course, but I'm biased) is either London or Berlin. I stayed in London for a month in high school & fell in love. I was in Berlin for a week last year & also fell in love. The food is definitely better in Berlin IMO (mmm currywurst drooooool).

As far as islands go again I can't choose just one but I'll go with Aruba & Tortola being tied for first.

Narwhal! I was gone for forever too. I don't have anything too great...I went to the Dominican Republic with exH for the HM, it was pretty sweet. Buuuuut I wanted to say congrats on the engagement and your last year of school!

We decided we probably won't have a PPD wedding. We're just going to have something really really small that requires little to no planning. We feel good about it.

Hi Narwal! Good to see you again!

For me, New Zealand and Vietnam are definitely favourites outside of North America. Honestly, I recommend pretty much everywhere I've been - England, France, Spain, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia , Fiji and Thailand

It really depends what you are looking for though.

Narwhal and Hazel, where all did you go in Spain? We're thinking of going there for our honeymoon.

I haven't traveled a ton, but I'd say my favorites are Singapore and the islands in Thailand (Koh Phi Phi especially!).
