BP Recommendations PLEASE!!!

I'm sure you girls get a TON of these, but any advice would be great!  We have 12 girls attending my BF's bachelorette party in February and I wanted to get any recommendations you girls may have.  We are looking for a decent dinner one night ($20-$40 range), and any activities that are a must do.  I haven't been there in years and saw on YELP that there are MANY new bars since I have been there(I came 6 months after Katrina).  We are in our mid 30's so not looking for anything too crazy! But we love to dance (hip hop and 90's) and I would love to suprise her with some sort of Chip n Dale type show.  TIA!!!!

Re: BP Recommendations PLEASE!!!

  • BTW- we are staying at the Ambassador Hotel at 535 Tchoupitoulas Street. Bride picked it, so I have no idea if it is a good location?

  • I stayed at the ambassador in November. Not too far from the quarter. It's within walking distance. What kind of dinner are you wanting? Traditional New Orleans cuisine? As far as bars go, I'd recommend Gold Mine.

  • I'd also recommend Gold Mine if you want something different from the Pat O's tourist scene where you will see 20-something bachelorettes wearing veils with condoms and etc.  I stayed at the Ambassador and the location and service were fine, but the walls were a bit thin for my liking.  If you're looking for somewhere kind of nice for dinner you should be able to do Palace Cafe for $40/person (entrees run about $15-$20), or Acme Oyster House has good seafood and good margaritas with entrees priced $10-$15.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • Red Fish Grill is a yummy dinner in your price range, and it's in the Brennan family restaurant chain, which usually delivers good food and service.

Ditto PP that recommended avoiding the same scene with brides with condoms on their veils... and speaking as someone whose Bachelorette party didn't include any Chippendale type performances (THANK GOD), definitely consider if you're sure that the bride would want that kind of thing. It was uncomfortable enough for me, personally, that my sister bitched me out for refusing to lick whipped cream off a penis-shaped candle while everyone watched.

Obviously I don't know you or your friend, but definitely take into account what you think she'd be comfortable with and go from there. I wish all the stupid penis decorations hadn't been at my bachelorette party, along with the cliche plastic games and accoutrements.
