Does anyone know if a check list or some kind of list about after you get married on changing your name?

Thanks.

this website seems to be pretty helpful:

    www.mrsforever.com

also, states vary rules and regulations, so you might want to check with a local resource as well (court house, etc)

Speaking of this...  for the married knotties, did you get more than one marriage license from the court house?  Was this an option?  I am very confused by this process.

stc+csk: I've heard from recently married friends that the general rule of thumb is to get your social security card changed first (you can find local offices on ssa.gov), then your license, and then everything else (credit cards, bank accts, etc.) are pretty easy from there. The web sites can be helpful, if you don't mind the fees.

futurecoachk: You can request certified copies of your marriage license at the courthouse. There's a small fee, usually around $5 per copy. You'll need those copies as proof to change your social security card, license and passport (and maybe a couple other documents). A few of my friends said 2-3 copies are all you need for the process.

    Hope that helps!

I'm sure that there are tons of resources online, but theknot.com has a packet that comes with a checklist and a cd that has pretty much any document you might need.  Its <$15, not free, but pretty cheap if it saves you time and hassle!
