mana - you can probably find kitchen/dining tables at a regular store cheap. For some reason real wood tables aren't too expensive if you're looking for something simple (I like simple). If you wanted something more elegant, that would be more expensive.

Mana--Try checking out a Habitat for Humanity ReStore. it's a lot of donated items.... really good stuff, and the proceeds go to Habitat. You can get furniture, appliances, cabinets, doors... tons of stuff. When we eventually replace our front door, I'm probably looking there first.

I've checked different furniture stores and "new to you" type thift stores. I like simple, and wasn't really finding that. I also liked that Ikea's kitchen tables have a storage place for the extra leaf. I can get the table and chairs and buffet for the price of the ones at Ashley's Furniture (the only place I found like what I was looking for in my price range). At the furniture stores a lot of the tables were 4 chairs and it was 100 bucks a chair for more. I'd really like 6... Besides, anything I get will be an upgrade to the 60 year old set I was given that has 2 chairs that can bear weight... I have thought about just buying chairs for now. But we'll see, I have 7 more weeks of looking.

I would think as long as you're not overfilling the drawers with heavy stuff you should be fine. And the liquid nails idea is great, that would help a lot too. I used an Ikea fridge cabinet as our floating bathroom vanity, and I used wood glue and added some finish nails to hold it together better. It worked perfectly.</div><div>
</div><div>My weekend was great - got nice and toasty on Friday night with my girls, did nothing on Saturday except take the pups for a walk, and then had impromptu brunch with SO at Cantina (which everyone should do, because it's awesome!). Then his parents called to see if they could bring us dinner and visit, so that was nice. Oooh, and I found the PERFECT rolling tote for the base of my DOC disaster kit, I was ridiculously happy!</div><div>

Good morning!!

Crazy busy weekend followed by a crazy busy monday today. Puppy is doing excellent and I will post pics and tell you more about her tomorrow!

BTW, we have the Ikea Malm bed and dresser set and my dresser drawers are totally falling apart. Can't complain too much considering how cheap they are.

Not sure what you are a looking for but I got a dining room table (counter height but they also have regular height) at JC Pennys.... it came with the table, and 6 chairs for $700!! They were having a sale... but it was exactly what I wanted.. Here is what it looks like:

Good Morning Everyone! We had a great weekend... Friday night I had girls night and consoled a friend.. but it was a great night!! I think it really helped her keep her mind off everything! Saturday- we did some things about the arounds (hanging curtains, etc)... then we had a informal wedding for one of my best guy friends and her new wife.... It was simple, justice of the peace in their house..It was different but beautiful then work at 6-2am.... Sunday- Ran errands to Lowes, BB&B, Home Goods and Target... got so much accomplished!! I am really loving how our house has STUFF now... Master bedroom is done... Curtains/Shades are hung, pictures on walls, LOVE how it turned out.... Kitchen is getting there... and Living Room/Dining Room have shades working on the curtain rods...

Saturday my parents came over to help me with hanging stuff and all that jazz as my DH was working and I have NO idea how to do anything.... And surprised us with an AMAZING GRILL as our housewarming gift.. My DH came home from work and was sooo excited to grill away....

Happy - oh wow, yea that's something I'd be interesting in... gonna hit up JC Penny's this week! At least the website tonight. The table at Ikea was $300 and 6 chairs was $360.

Paprika - haha I can't remember if J said he liked painting or not! I don't mind it, but I need to work on my arm strength to be able to do it for long. I remember helping my dad paint the kitchen and my arms were SCREAMING.

Happy - my parents already told my FI to pick out a grill, that's our housewarming present too! I can't wait to grill!

Jess- I LOVE the picture! When my DH and I met we were searching through all of the block party pics (1992) to see if there were any of us together.... but there wasnt

Mana- I ordered it online (JCP by me didnt have it) but had it shipped to the store closest to my house and just picked it up. Word to the wise its a lot of boxes and LARGE ones.. I thought I was going to die driving home to the placement of boxes blocking my mirrors but thats another story, ha!!! The good thing about the table is it has a leaf attached which folds INTO the table. So right now we have it set up as 4 chairs and the leaf in but when we had our parents over, we had it set for 6 and the leaf out.. It was great!!

I was so shocked my parents bought us a grill.. they arent cheap but we LOVE IT!!!! It's perfect

Happy - AH that's what I want the leaf that stores in the table! Then I can use the money I saved to get 2 bar chairs I wanted for the island... I hope my JC Penny has it because I like to see things in person before I buy them but i'll definitely use the truck to pick it up! For some reason i dind't htink to see if JC penny had furniture.
