I wanted to answer some of your questions on this board as well. I am getting married at the Fulton County Fairgrounds. I am not a fan of getting married in a church just because I have a 2 year old and another on the way in July. Just a personal preference. We originally just booked them for the hall but decided to utilize their beautiful gazebo. I was kind of hesitant because it was a fairgrounds but it is relatively small and very well kept. Plus my family is crazy crafty. They used to own a furnature business and so that is where the carpenter info came from. I have to look at the location again but I believe there is a bathroom right by the gazebo that we can hide in but I know there are also a few other possibilities close by. I am trying to have my FI father's old el camino restored for the wedding and thought about driving up in that but still a few bugs to work out. I have been researching screens and will post a few of what I am thinking to give a better idea. I would love your help and opinions since you did have an outdoor wedding. Thanks

Awesome! I can't really picture the fairgrounds without food carts and carnival rides, so I'm no help there.  I grew up just south of Swanton and have been to the fairgrounds a few times in the past, but only at fair time.  Do you have pictures of what this place looks like when it's not the beginning of September?  I'm quite curious!

We, too, chose to get married outside mostly because a church setting didn't seem appropriate to us.  Neither DH or I have ever really considered any religion to be part of our lives.  Are you catching hell from some of your family members for this?  We sure did.  We booked our venues about 12-13 months ahead of time and my grandma was still reminding me that her church was available on our date up until about 4 months out.  It was frustrating.  Good luck to you if that is an issue.

It's awesome that your family is crafty and willing to help.  DIY projects can save a ton of money and look very unique and pretty at the same time.  I wish I would have done more projects as a lot of my things were just so... generic.

If your FFIL's car can't be restored in time, I think renting or borrowing any cool car and driving up in that would be fun.  I'd worry about hiding in the bathroom though.  Chances are your guests will be using the bathroom before the ceremony.  It's like going to the movies, you're better to go before than to have to go during, KWIM?  I am just guessing that you won't be hiding as much as you would like to.

Good luck with your planning and keep us updated!

No Hell has been thrown yet but my family knows me well enough to keep the opinions to themselves lol. I am not rude but I have been very clear about things since I got pregnant a second time. LOL Birth control and I are not very good friends lol. But that a whole different website lol.

I was not set on the bathroom idea for that reason alone. I forget the set up exactly so I think in early May or end of May I am going to go over and take lots of pictures of both locations.

I love that my family is so crafty as well. I love personal touches on all things and I am really excited to make this unique and a day to remember. I love the local board and so I will make sure to keep you all posted. Thanks :)
