Escort cards from VP

We had a meeting at our venue today and she reminded us that we need to differentiate between meal options on our escort cards. I think we're going to use different colored ribbon or bows. We've been using Vista Print for all of our printing needs and we're ready to start looking at invites. There are no options for place cards or escort cards on VP. Has anyone had any luck getting business cards and just folding them in half? If not, can you please recommend a well priced site with good quality?

Also, how does it work to get them printed? Obviously they need names and table numbers, which I won't have until we get a head count. That won't be until 2 weeks before, so do I just have to order them then and hope they get here quickly? I've been to weddings where my name is written in, but I think a semi-conscious goldfish could best me in a penmanship contest, and FI's isn't much better.

Our coordinator also said they offer an easel if we just want to make a large poster of table numbers and names. I sort of like that idea (less cost, less shipping) but then how would we differentiate for meals?

Re: Escort cards from VP

  • VP has escort cards. They are basically business cards. We attached them to cardstock that we folded to make a tent. For the names, you will need to write them out of print then onto labels. VP doesn't print the names and tables of guests.

We bought some from Michael's and I am doing it myself. We have to differentiate for meals too. I was going to do different colored ink, but instead decided to type the meal choice on the card. Name Table Food choice
  • Paper Source has a great selection of escort cards in a ton of colors. They might be called place cards on the website when you are looking, but the same thing obviously. They fold in half and can be written or printed on. Great quality and a good price. They ship super fast too.

  • When I look in "my portfolio" in vistaprint, it gives me a link called "See matching documents" next to each thing I've previously ordered. For me - i've ordered STD's and Thank You cards. If I click the one next to my TY's, coordinating place cards is one of the options matching documents it's pre-created for me to customize.

I'm planning on ordering the place cards since they coordinate, then doing a clear label with the person's name and table number over it. I'll probably order them when I get my RSVP's back - like three weeks before my wedding and label them the week before the wedding to get to the venue. I've had good luck with VP's turnaround time so far.

I like your ideas for ribbons. I've also seen stickers, or a separate piece of paper in a different color to indicate dish choice.
