Re: holidays

  • Don't worry about thread jacking :) Those things are awesome! I don't really look at it as that anyway. Walgreens and walmart usually ALWAYS have them.
  • Now I want a chocolate orange. I've never had one and it looks delicious. I like chocolate, I like oranges. Surely I would like them combined.
  • It's probably super weird but I really look forward to the drive into Milwaukee for our family Christmas.  It's 7 hours, but I think maybe I associate it with the excited feeling I used to have when I was a kid driving out there.

I also am super excited for my FI's nieces to experience Christmas this year.  They're finally old enough to get amply excited about Santa, and that is just my favorite thing ever.

I am so there with you - even in crappy snow I love driving into Milwaukee for the holidays.

  • I'm being a scrooge right now.  I'm ready for holiday discussion to be over.  I'm ready for CC bills to be paid.

Christmas is going to be nice seeing my family, but one side is having it rough.  My Grandpa died in the spring, so it's our first Christmas without him, and my Uncle (his son) was diagnosed with some pretty wicked strong cancer two weeks ago.
We'll survive, and we will enjoy each other's company, but I expect it to be more somber this year.

This Saturday is our non-profit event, so I'm excited about that.

  • Jelenny, awesome that you go in too!

I have been driving in every year, multiple times a year, since I was born.  I am SO EMBARRASSED to admit that I never explored downtown until like 2 years ago.  It is honest-to-God one of my favorite cities I've ever been to :)

    I'm sorry Wrkn.

My grandmother is going through Chemo for Stage 3 Breast Cancer, so I know what you're going through. Try to enjoy the holiday as best you can.

And I totally know what you mean about money. I'm going to be lucky if I can buy FI anything. Meh.

I feel really awkward about this conversation, as though maybe I'm annoying someone, so sorry for the threadjack...

But Safehouse, is that the one you need a password for?  I DON'T KNOW THE PASSWORD and I am not keen on being humiliated, lol.  Unless you want to give me a little heads up *wink wink*

  • And i believe the password is: "I'm looking for a safehouse" (at least that's what it was when they went there. Might have changed, so don't take what I say as the Gospel)

  • Why, thank you!

It's so simple and so good. I get requests for it every holiday season

  • My favorite part of Christmas is the tree, decorated and lit from the inside.  I string all the lights near the trunk so the lights tease.  I don't even care if presents are under the tree, just the smell is Christmas.

This year, sharing it with my two daughters, new SIL, grandson and fiance` will make it even more special, even if we do have to do it a week early.

  • I love the holiday season in general.  I love the Christmas movies, Christmas music, decorations, etc.  I think it boils down to the fact that I LOVE giving people presents.  I have been like that since I was about 8.  I also just love that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's are right in a row.  It is awesome to see all of my family and friends over the course of a couple months.
