How do I include a Lutheran pastor (Grandfather) into a Catholic ceremony?

My mother grew up Lutheran and converted to Catholicism when I was nine, bringing all of us kids with her. My dad converted a year later, and we've been happily Catholic ever since.
My maternal grandfather, however, is still very Lutheran...and a pastor, to boot! I know he'll want to be involved in my wedding, but I don't know how to include him in a way that he won't be offended or feel like he's just been given a tiny role.
We're definitely set on a Catholic ceremony (although whether or not it will be a mass is still up in the air...my fiance isn't Catholic), and getting him there is a big enough issue in itself. But how do I include him without compromising my Catholic ceremony?

Talk to both your grandfather and your priest. Ask your grandfather how involved he wants to be, and ask your priest how involved he can be. There are tons of options, depending on the priest. Your grandfather could do a reading, say a blessing, offer a prayer, etc.

I would talk to your priest first. The first meeting we had with out priest he asked us if there would be any family members that are pastors, clergy, ministers, etc, that would like to participate in the ceremony as well. If we did have anyone he seemed very open to share the ceremonial duties aside from the actual blessing part.

So I would see how much your priest would allow your grandfather to participate, then approach your grandfather and say you would be honored if he would like to participate, and if he chooses to do so he would be able to do a, b, c, etc. That way he can decide if he wants to or not. But I wouldn't say anything before asking the priest. Good Luck!
