  This is what caught my eye "My mother and I have been planning my wedding...."
  
  So maybe she's been plannig her son's wedding too.... 
  
  oh wait, you are marrying her son so it's also her son's wedding....
  
   Seriously, it sounds like you do have some problems with her trying to plan. The fact the engagement and RD are basically a non-issue - get over it and move on.
  
  The other issues - wehn she tells you things she's done or thinks you should do - the suggested "bless your little heart" and "thank you for the suggestion, WE'LL consider it" are both appropriate.
  
  Just because she's bought stuff does NOT mean you have to use it. Do want you AND your fiance' want.
  
  Stop talking about wedding plans with her.   Only tell her what she needs to know.

  You may not have gotten the support that you initially wanted, but you have gotten a great one up on your detractors on this thread.  In the process, you recovered your sense of humor!  

  
  

  You began your first entry with a very frank appraisal of your self.  It did not come off as one who took herself too seriously.  In fact, we thought you painted your self as flawed as much as your FMIL- just from the other angle.  We are reading this as a a bride and a MOB.  We find some of your comments humorous, some of them make my mother want to shake you (that is a mother for you!), but most of them just strike us as you venting your frustration so that you can relate to your FMIL w/o saying or showing any of these things to her.  The cave was a good suggestion...  Writing a letter and then tearing it into tiny pieces immediately, lets you vent and "smack" something.  Keep laughing, girl and growling at the same time.    I hope that you are still reading- looks like you were getting ready to give up!
