Today you...

Today I had my first ever knottie (actually it was a nestie) GTG.  It was totally fun and can't wait to do it again. :)

You?

  • I cleaned up the bigger of the two rooms of my apartment! Now I'm eating dinner and watching the Roomba go around. I never get tired of watching that thing.

  • Got new tires, new paint which I think is too brown :( and new boots that are too big.
  • shot a gun for the first time. Multiple times. It was quite fun and I'm looking forward to doing it again :D

FI's been teaching me to shoot recently. It really is quite a feeling.

  • pirate trip in the rain.

I got off early only to find DH went out with some friends.  Which is fine, he said he would be back on island to have dinner.  He just called to say they decided to have dinner in St John and will not be back until the 9pm ferry.  Now I have to figure out what to have and of course there really isn't anything in the house because I've been too busy to go to the grocery store.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Sarah, I was so freaking nervous! And my palms were super sweaty. I need to get used to it, big time. I guess that just means going and shooting until I'm comfortable.

What have you been learning on?
  • Funnily enough, gun shooting is one of those stereotypes which neither Allen nor I have been able to completely disavow over here.  We both grew up around them, and so has everyone else we know! HA!
  • Who did you gtg with, Amoro?

So far today, I failed twice at using our coffee machine, made some scrambled eggs and am yet to get out of my PJ's. Must rectify that soon.

FI has a .22 and a 9mm. I'm pretty good with the .22, and with the 9mm I can shoot off about five accurate shots before the kickback gets to be too much for me and my shots start getting wonky. We've gone three or four times since the summer, I think.

I was pretty nervous and upset the first time. It's such a violent experience between the noise and the kick and the cartridges (or whatever they're called) flying out of the gun. Our first day, I had tears in my eyes pretty much the whole time. I've gotten more used to it, though.

  • Hung window treatments for the first time.  They actually turned out really well, and my mom is thrilled.
  • Today I went to breakfast with Buddy and seriously sat there for 45 minutes silently worrying that I was coming down with a horrible eyeball disease before thinking to ask him, "Is it smoky in here or something?"

    It was smoky in there.
On bed rest since Groundhog's Day and every day since has been exactly the same.

  • Today I drove an 1 1/2 hours to have lunch with my FMIL for her B-Day (despite the fact that she lives 25 minutes away!)

Today I figured out how to add a pic to my sig- is it too big??
  • Ooh, I loved shooting a gun.  We have a shotgun, which isn't my favorite.  I want a Glock.

Anyway, today I worked, stuffed and stamped wedding invites, got an oil change, and attempted to go out to dinner but we turned around and came home because it was snowing so hard.  Boo.

  • No, it's not too big.  What, you got stuck in traffic going to see your FMIL?
  • I'm glad your GTG went well! I think lpstl might be stuck with me after ours; we've now hung out several times. I'll give her a break when the baby comes, but you better believe after that I'm stalking her again.

I updated my events of today in an earlier post, but one thing I just recently did was to order myself a new LL Bean tote with my new initials on it. I know everyone always says those totes are lame as BM gifts, but I'm not gonna lie I use the crap out of my old one.  My grandmother gave it to me in high school, and it's the most durable thing I've ever seen. Plus my new one will be bigger and have longer straps, so might function a little better. I'm kind of too excited about a new tote bag I think.

  • Brie- Are you guys supposed to get a lot there? They keep saying we're just going to get rain, which makes me sad because I could really use another snow day on Monday before I completely resign myself to spring time.

CS- I hope you feel better! Any idea what's causing it?

  • I've done absolutely nothing today. I showered and then got back in my PJ's. I haven't had a "do nothing" day in months and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

J got me a 9mm for Valentine's Day (how romantic!). Today was my first time ever shooting anything withOUT the word "squirt" before it. I'm wth you on the wonky shots after about 5 rounds. My left hand started slipping (my right is my strong side) and that's when J would tell me my shots were getting wobbly. Plus I went way too fast between shots one of times. I'm glad you got better after going multiple times. That makes me feel better about my confidence. I didn't get upset but it was definitely a startling experience.

There was traffic, but they live in Acworth (we are in Woodstock) and requested we drive to Alpharetta for Indian.

They ALWAYS  go somewhere across town for special occassion meals- 'so we can try something new' like there is no ethnic food on the west side!

I really don't mind usually, just made the day crazy...
  • Today I slept in waaaay too late, took a shower, made and ate some french toast, made some hard boiled eggs for my rats, and now I'm ignoring homework.
  • Sun, I gtg with someone from the IN board.  She and her husband were a lot of fun. :)  One of the few people over there who doesn't think I'm a biznatch. HAHA!

Personally, I'm not much of a handgun person.  I don't really see the point of them, except to shoot people.  I grew up with shotguns and learned how to shoot those.

T, I can totally see you using that a lot, with your line of work and needing to carry big stuff around all the time!  I'd be excited too!  And honestly, even though I used to have some issues with Lainie, I'd have a gtg with her.

I hope you and Mr. S feel better soon Nova!

I'm off too bed ladies.  It's supa late here and i'm sleeeepy. Buona notte!

Hehe, I'm a total weenie, hence the tears. It's nice to think that I can shoot a gun pretty accurately, though. As long as I get the bad guy within five shots, I should be good! :)

It seems like about 6 inches is the popular theory around here.  It's a mix of rain and snow around here--when we left our house, it was raining, but when we got about five minutes away it was snowing pretty hard.

So, we turned around and picked up Chipotle on the way home.

  • Gnight, Amoro! Glad you had a fun day :)

CS- I hope you guys feel better soon.

Brie- what's on the menu for tonight since you're back at home?

TLV - I'm totally jealous of the tote - I want one but refuse to buy myself one.
  • Oh, and I love my monogrammed BM tote too, tlv.  I used it as a gym bag for a long time until my arsenal of gym crap got too large for it, then I used it as a beach bag this summer.   But I really like monogrammed things in general, I think because I was never able to get any pencils or bike license plates with my name on them as a kid.

Speaking of which, I need to stalk Etsy for BM gifts tonight.  Stupid FI thought of awesome GM gifts in .3 seconds, so at least that's taken care of.

  • Today we went to the MOMA to see the Tim Burton exhibit! It was awesome. I couldn't take any pictures sadly, but to continue with the theme, we're watching Beetlejuice tonight and cooking goulash (yeah the cooking has nothing to do with TB, but I wanted to share that we're actually using our kitchen!)

  • Brie- Chipotle is definitely better than a car accident. Try to send some of the snow my way though! Only not until Sunday night, please, if you can swing that. I also couldn't find pencils and such. There was always a Tracy, but never a Tracey. I do have some really weird things with my name on them though because every time my mom actually did find something spelled correctly, she had to get it just because.

    Night amoro!

Sco- If it makes you feel any better, I had a $25 gift card to LL Bean due to using my credit card too much, and had a code for free shipping, so I only ended up paying like $6 for my tote :)  However, now if I'm asked to be a BM any time soon and get one of those, I'm going to be mad that I bought one.

  • Stina - was it a great exhibit? DH & I are huge Tim Burton fans. How long will it be showing?

TLV, I saw the bag you got. Which color? I'm toying with getting a large and medium one, but with our monogram instead of just mine. But it's pricey. But the black looks nice!
  • Scotteo, it was great! We were expecting 10 pictures....it was very comprehensive. It's a lot of stuff from his entire life. DH says that there was almost too much stuff. I liked that they the sandworm's lips from Beetlejuice. It's here until mid April.
