Reception Locations- Stillwater

My fiance and I want to have our reception in Stillwater but we're not sure where. Any ideas? It's going to be about 150 guests and we're thinking either nov. 2010 or may 2011.

Thanks!

    Old Stillwater Courthouse
    Lake Elmo Inn
Stillwater Boat & Packet (yes, the paddle boats and side wheels)
    St. Croix National Golf Course
    StoneRidge Golf Course

That should get you started!  They're all pretty easy to deal with in terms of previous knotties reviews.  Otherwise, something else to consider is if your church has a gathering hall they're often super cheap to rent and you can bring most everything in.  Another possibility would be renting one of the buildings at the Washington County Fairgrounds for your reception.

I am getting married at the Historic Courthouse in Stillwater!  Its beautiful, but the downside is that because it is a historic building in a residential neighborhood they are fairly strict on noise and alcohol policies.  You also have the Water Street Inn which is right near the river, and a little pricy, but also beautiful.  There is Grand Garage, also downtown.  I went there but i think the minimum is 250 people or something crazy like that.  Depending on the type of reception maybe you are intrested in the public parks?  Pioneer Park is on top of one of the bluffs and overlooks historic Stillwater.

My FI and I are hosting our reception at Afton Alps, about 7 mi south of Stillwater.  The down side is that it is in the middle of no where (we are hiring a shuttle for guests to their hotel), but the plus side is that it gorgeous and extremely well prices.  If

I am getting married at the courthouse as well! It's gorgeous, but like PP said, they are somewhat strict on alcohol policies. If that's not something that bothers you, then check it out, it's really fun and pretty!

We're having our ceremony and reception at the Historic Courthouse! I have some pics in my bio. The alcohol restrictions are wine, beer, and champagne only which to us wasn't a big deal, especially since you can bring your own (saves lots of $$$)!

There is a gorgeous rustic farm i looked at early on in my search. Not sure it would work for your time of year, but its really nice.

There is also the Outing Lodge though with 150 you'd have to have an outdoor wedding, as they only fit 75 inside its awesome rustic skeleton. It is about 10 minutes from downtown Stillwater in the middle of a park, we were origianlly going ot have our wedding there until we moved up the date from the summer to this winter.
The Grand Banquet Hall is in downtown Stillwater and is really beautiful with stained glass windows and antique looks.
The Old historic Water Street Inn is a bar, banquet hall, inn, and it has a patio which is near the gazebo by the river in downtown Stillwater. Only thing about this one is that it sometimes smells musty.

The Courthouse only allows wine, beer, and champagne, and you have to limit drinks to 2 per person.

I don't really post on the Knot anymore, but make sure that you check out the Water Street Inn!  I got married there this past summer and had both our ceremony and recption there.  Tracey Jo is an awesome event coordinator and made us feel very comfortable.  The prices are very reasonable as well!

I second the Camrose Hill Farm suggestion above! And if it's in season, a riverboat would be awesome. We're checking out options for our RD on a Stillwater boat, and they seem to range from $40-$50/person including the boat.

when we were just starting to plan our wedding, one of the places we checked out was the waterstreet inn, we met with Tracy Jo. She was awesome. even though we ended up deciding to have our event back home in western, MN, we could tell she was definitely someone who knows her stuff. As far as the cost is concerned, I think the reception is such a big part of the day, and that you do get what you pay for.

Camrose - Can you also have a reception here or only a ceremony?  Looking at their website it seems like only a ceremony maybe.....
