Escort cards- if you don't know a guest's name?

We have one or two people who were invited "with guest" and haven't given us a name for their guest. Part of the problem is that they didn't send their RSVP card back, just told us they were coming and mark two spots. Er. So, my question is, how do I give the unnamed guest an escort card? Or in those two cases, could I put "Ms. Jane Doe and guest" even if everyone else has their own individual?

If you can't ask your guest what their date's name is, then yes, I would write "and guest" on the escort card.

I would try to ask them for the name, but if you can't get it then "and guest" would be the way to go.

Thanks everyone! I would ask her, but I don't even think this one girl knows who her guest is going to be.... and I just want to get these done!

I have many "and guests"  despite numerous attempts at getting the guests name.  If the "and guest" feels tacky, they can take it up with the invitee!

It's not ideal, but not the end of the world to do 'and guest'. FWIW, I was "and guest" at a wedding I went to with FI a year and a half ago, for a couple I know. I filled out RSVP (was mailed to him) so I KNOW it had my name down. Now that was a little bit tacky. Meh.
