holidays

What is the one thing you look forward to on the holidays? and not just christmas I mean the holiday season.

I look forward to the growing excitment each year as my boys get old enough to really enjoy and understand the holidays. Now that they are old enough to start making crafts with me and daycare I get to decorate my house with their art.

Re: holidays

  • Well this year, I'm looking forward to not having to see my ILs. Hooray!
  • I guess just seeing people I don't normally see.

Otherwise I get nothing but stressed out, freezing cold and an empty bank account. Not really much to look forward to there.
  • I look forward to my little family Christmas.  We all talk about the things we're thankful for and cry.  It's very mooshy family together-y, and I love it.

Gah, those are my favorite! FI's work sells them year-round, but I didn't find this out until this week.

  • I love the overall feeling. There's just something about the cold air, houses decorated with lights, fires (bonfires, fireplaces). Just the whole atmosphere of winter.

  • Vacations.

We always go on a vacation for the Christmas holiday (partly because we don't want to spend time with family...) This year, it's San Francisco!

Other than that....probably baking. I bake up a storm this time of the year and I LOVE it.

This will be surprising, but chocolate oranges.  Ha.  You've never had one?  They make them in all sorts of flavors and such now, but the original milk chocolate orange is really the only edible one.  Plus, I have yet to find a year round flavored chocolate that is milk chocolate and orange.  All of them are dark chocolate (which is too bitter to pair with the orange flavor, IMO), and have STUFF in them (like nuts).  Or it's milk chocolate with orange ooze in them.  blech blech blech!

My birthday is in June.  I would gladly pay $6 plus shipping to have one on my birthday.  That would make my entire year.  I'm not kidding.

Oh my god.  Why does the midwest hate me?!

I think the raspberry ones suck.  But that's just because i'm not a big fan of chocolate and raspberry together.

  • Also, you can buy them online.

I found 12 for $40. Yes, expensive, but worth it? DUH.
  • Well, I thought about finding them online if I didn't find any here in town.  I will have to do that at other times as well.  Or just fo rmy birthday.  I don't want them to lose their special.

    Sorry for the threadjack, mizery.

It comes looking like a whole peeled orange.  You have to whack it on a table to get the wedges to detach individually.
  • I actually realyl hate those chocolate oranges, my mom used to always get them for me and I always threw them out.

We do.  They had every one BUT the milk chocolate.  As did two Targets, a Walmart, and a local grocery store.
