How to handle this one. JEEBUS.

I was just talking to FMIL about my job, and mentioned that I ride with a friend, W. FMIL through a HUGE fit and said if she sees W at the wedding, she will make her miserable and try to kick her out of the wedding! (Cliff notes: W was with FI the one night he got super trashed and had to get his stomach pumped at 16, and she blames W).

Wow - FMIL - time to cut the cord.  How can she hold a grudge that long?  Hardly seems worth it.

Definitely have your FI talk to her - it's just some unecessary stress you dont need to worry about.
  • Whitty, that sucks. I think you should have Shane talk to her.
  • FI has talked to her, he told her she KNOWS it's not W's fault. She's insistent she not to be at the wedding.

Anyone have a good number for a hitman?

  • I can get that take care of for ya, Whit. My dad's got Mafia ties. Only kidding. But seriously, is there any way to change her mind on this one? I am in no way condoning the drama queen behaviour your FMIL is exhibiting, but I get it. I found out one time that someone I went to high school with gave my brother meth once. I had a big ole come to Jesus with my brother and vowed to fucking murder the dude that gave it to him on site, if I ever saw him again. Yeah, it's an assbackwards way to feel, but I can kind of sympathize. Anyway, how does FFIL feel about this person? Maybe FI could talk to his dad and his dad could do damage control with FMIL.

  • :( Hopefully, FMIL will be so busy talking to everyone else at the wedding, that she won't notice W.

Maybe tell W just to try to avoid her completely.
  • Whit- Maybe FI should talk to her.  Do you really think she would make a scene at your wedding?
Also I looked at your BIO and I want you to plan my wedding when you are done...I think everything you have is super cute.
Hope everything works out with FMIL!

  • Tell your fi to tell her if she even remotely pulls any BSC shiit, she'll be the one escorted out.

  • Whew, good suggestions ladies. I less than three y'all like whoa.

Lauren, having FI talk to FFIL is a great idea, he'll calm the BSC in her.

Jess, I will do that too. I've already told W she might cause a scene, so I'll add that she needs to try to avoid her.

Awww, thanks jamie! We've spent very little money, so my biggest fear is that everything pulls off like I hope it does, and nothing comes off looking cheap. But yeah, she would definitely make a scene. Eating out with her is embarassing.

lp, lol. That's actually what I told FI, and I said, "Let her try to kick W out, it won't be W that gets kicked out!" He just laughed, but I was serious! :)

  • I've never looked at your profile - your wedding looks like it's going to be so cute.  And you're gorgeous in your dress, you look so cute and teeny tiny in it.
  • Thanks Stacks :) Your mouth to God's ears!

Oh gosh.  It never stops, huh Whit.  Nip it in the bud.  I like what Lpstl had to say about it.

ETA:  Ditto Stacks.  I've never seen your bio before.  Very cute!  Can't wait for the pics.
  • I love that you did all that with little money!  I understand with the things looking cheap but it seems like you really put a lot of thought into all your purchases so I think it will be awesome.  Plus I love country music so that part is cool too!  Try not to worry too much you have done all you can so just let everything fall together.  With FMIL hopefully she will surprise you!

  • Capri, it doesn't. I'M HAVING WINE TONIGHT!

jamie, having country music has been a HUGE fight too, with my parents. But FI and I love it, so I kept my foot down on it :)

squirrly, definitely. There was a, erm, scene in Wal-Mart a few months ago. ::face palm::

  • Ugh.  Seriously, moms can hold onto stuff so damn long.  It's like a requirement for being a mom.  Just try to keep her busy during the wedding so she won't even know the girl is there.

If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat. image

  • I forget if they're paying for anything.

If it comes up and they ARE NOT paying for stuff, it's time for FI to say, "Mom she's invited to the wedding.  If you do make a scene to kick her out, that would really not be appropriate.  I'd hate for the venue to remove YOU at my wedding because you can't let things go."
  • Oh heck no, they're not paying for a dime, which is why this makes me so mad. She will not kick out guests that my parents are paying for.

  • So your FI totally gets to say, "Dad, you need to put mom back in her box."
  • Same solution I had for other stuff:  tell her to shove it.

  • Tell her that she will never ever see grandkids if she causes a scene at your wedding.

Seriously, I'm sorry hun, this is getting ridiculous!
  • Ditto banana and mandysmear. I'm sorry your mom is being BSC about this one.
