House Hunting/Rental

I am looking for a house to rent. I would love to get away from apartment living. Can you recommend any good websites or real estate agent/company? Our last resort would be to maybe find a new apartment when our lease is up. Do you know of any nice apartments near the Addison/Dallas location?

Thanks girls

You can go to realtor.com and select homes for rent.  It will give you a pretty wide selection and you can search by area.

I love just looking on here. Do you know a realtor? It might help narrow it down or you can look at foreclosures. They will have some great rates sometimes.

What do homes rent for around here anyway?  Driving home from work once I pulled over and took the rental info sheet from a house.  The house is smaller than our apartment (I think the house was 900 sq ft?) but did have wood laminate and stuff but they were asking $2,000/mo for it in the less desirable part of Lower Greenville (like 2 blocks south of Mockingbird).  I thought that was WAY overpriced, and apparently other people feel the same way since its still sitting here.

Anyone know what smaller homes "typically go for" anywhere in a semi-decent neighborhood in the Dallas/Richardson area?

Apartments -- I'm doing the obligatory stint in The Village so I don't have much to offer.  We never use any of the amenities and we pay $925/mo for a 2 bedroom, which is a lot. My friend lives in Las Colinas and they pay $700/mo for a comparable apartment.  The property here is well-maintained though, and its nice to have the lakes and such to walk around.

the one she has is in Kennedale off of 287 and Sublett.  The street is called Ranchogrande Drive.  I know thats not in the Addison/Dallas area, but I was just saying a duplex might be another option if she didnt want to deal with apartment living, but a house is still too expensive  :)

I looked in Addison/N Dallas a while back and found some for $1000/mo for 3 bed. Definitely try realtor.com, that's probably yur best bet.

I worked with Alisa Grossman with Keller Williams.  She found a wonderful house for me last year.

WOW This gives me a great start.
A duplex would even work for me. I know a lot of houses will not accept pets so that narrows down my search. I hope I find something within a month. If not I will wait another year and start me search early with a realtor.

    Thanks

Thanks!  We'd LOVE to get out of this apartment but can't afford more than $950/mo in rent and then utilities. I don't know realistically what that could get us in a house.

Have you checked craigslist? My brother found a really nice rental in McKinney on there and the price is very reasonable. Seems like you might be able to get a better price since there are no realtor fees involved.

Yes check craigslist! A friend of mine found her rental off of craigslist. She has lived there for about a year now.

<div>That's pretty typical for this area. You were basically in the M-Streets, which is an expensive area of town. Usually, the farther north you go (toward Addison), the less you will pay per square foot. </div>

that and from friendly experience i've noticed that lot of investors try and between 75-95% of the mortgage payment.
