FI is currently 'fixing' the fridge...as per the website instructions of the other night...I am cringing a bit because I always expect things to go wrong but I am hoping this fixes it...

Then church, baseball playoffs (two games only please...) and then groceries...very exciting life I lead...

Are you all still asleep? Did you have exciting Saturday night? We celebrated FIs birthday...he got lots of gift cards from his fam, which we love. It made me think that I would be more than happy with gift cards for wedding presents...

Good Morning, Ladies! Hi Number - happy birthday to FI. I hope you get your fridge fixed.
I'm watching youtube videos to find out how to cook a butternut squash. I've never made one, but I want to try a recipe real bad that uses it. Doesn't look too hard. And I'm googling how to cut the spiciness of our green chile stew - it's delicious, but brutally spicy. We'll see if the ladies on the What's Cooking board can help too.
Another beautiful early fall day - just housework and football on the agenda.

Good Morning Ladies!

My DH comes home tonight....YAY! He has been gone since Wednesday and I miss him. It gets really boring. Yesterday I spent shopping, I got a new suit, and 2 new pairs of pants and a sweater. Now off to find shoes today. And the grcoery store.

Les- Butternut squash is really easy, in fact most have a sticker with how to cook them on them. Usually I cut them, clean the inside, preheat oven to about 350, and add butter and brown sugar in the cavity. Bake for about 15-20 check with a fork.
I usually use a baking sheet or shallow pan,and line with aluminum foil.

We drove into Indiana last night to go to this sweet casino. The buffet was one of the best I have ever been to! I'm glad I don't have to worry about fitting into a wedding dress. Anyway, we got home late, I'm beat and we lost $100. haha.

Today consists of laundry, Daaa Bears and grocery shopping. Joy.

Morning ladies!!

I am surprised I woke up so late (9am)... I didn't do much last night and was in bed by 10:30! H and I have been a bit lame lately. Ever since we got home from the honeymoon we've been going nonstop with school and work (me) and working multiple projects (him)... I think our friends mildly hate us lately. We skipped a martini night last night and instead searched several stores for a netbook for me and then had dinner and crashed :-/

Today... we are going to a 60th anniversary party for H's grandparents. Isnt that awesome! 60 years?! My own grandparents celebrated 60 this summer.. they are such good examples

kd- yay for H returning. I hate when mine goes away. I can never fall asleep without him!

Morning everyone! Football has been banned in our household after the Vikes loss aaand the Gophers getting completely crushed... by South Dakota. Good job, boys.

My mom and sister are in town, and we're about to head to my hair and make-up trial! They also brought back my dress from WI, so I can start scheduling fittings! It's going to be wedding stuff for the next two months

Other than that, I don't think we're doing much today.

I know right after we got married I couldnt sleep enough for the next 2 weeks. I think you run so high for so long leading to the wedding, it's like you crash. And then you have to go back to regular life.

DH's been on his annual guy trip. He'll be home a week and then he's in Chicago/Milwaukee for a week. He's always leaving me. But he tells me, but I always come home.

ah yes. no one warns you about the post wedding crash. Its been a month and I am still exhausted. Altho.. this weekend has gone a long way in helping.

We were at the end of our 3 hour photo shoot throughout historic Charleston, and our photographer wanted this architecture. So he was like "ok your done, you cant do anymore, you're so over it!" And he had just made me run down an alley, so yeah I was over it. Everyone says it looks like our limo didint show up.

Good morning ladies! I am waiting for FI to wake up so we can go to the gym. This was off week for bootcamp, and I only went to 2 optional small group meetings, so I am feeling REALLY squishy. Then I'm going to bake cookies and make a couple casseroles for my friends who are new parents, and hopefully get to hold the baby again when I go bring the food to them. Its sort of a bribe

Like Steph, I have tons of WR stuff to do. Today we'll decide on readings, and I'll worry all day about how effed I am at work tomorrow.

Maybe I'll get some work done today to make up for all the time that will be wasted by me getting my ass chewed tomorrow. I am about a month behind at work, and its killing me, but my boss keeps giving me new urgent and important projects to finish.. like now. I can't get my routine stuff done. I'm so confused be her right now I just don't know what to do.

Yesterday H and I took our niece and nephew and little cousin to the apple orchard about 2 ours from here. We had so much fun, but were exhausted by the end of the day! Today is church in a little while, then coming home to nap. We both have colds, and while his is starting to go away, mine just started to show up. So boo.

I'm sorry you're having a hard time at work Sarah. Hell just steal Sookies reading and you'll be done. As far as work, is there any way you can talk to your boss about what take precedent? Or is it more complicated then that?

Nope, Horseshoe in Hammond. It is the quickest one to get to but that dang Chicago Skyway cost us $3 on our Ipass to get there! It was a beautiful casino though!

and thank you! ha! It does look like the limo didnt show. Either way.. its a great photo. My favorite wedding photos are one where the couple is all dressed up but not doing anything wedding related - sitting in a bar, sitting on a stoop etc:)

I'm kind of blah today. My throat hurts and I'm feeling kind of miserable all around. I'm missing my family, I guess, and I don't really have any close Jax friends. And I had a horrible dream last night, the kind that always ends up dredging back old, bad feelings. Plus I'm in constant pain from this toe stuff that, in the process of killing any leftover traces from a wart virus, is steadily peeling off my skin. Ugh. Some Sunday morning.

kd- without gettiing into too much detail, I seriously rocked the boat of student and parent communications and relations about 3 weeks ago. I was told it was fine, because improvements came of it. Processes are in flux, and everyone is buzzing about better internal communications with other departments, transparency of policies and procedures, student centered communications, etc. So we have had to take a hard look at every contact we have with a student and make sure it reflects the image set forth for us. that's pretty hard since 3/5 of my staff are charged with communicating with students about money. Its hard to stay positive when you are trying to get someone to pay a bill. This means I spend hours every day in meetings with student services, enrollment management, and deans trying to hash all this out.

At the same time, we are just now getting a budget ironed out for the fiscal year that started in July. There are major organizational and budget structure changes, which means me and another one of my staff have to go through everything recorded in the general ledger in July, August, and half of Sept to make sure it is in the right place to correspond with where it was budgeted, because we didn't know about the changes in time to do record them right the first time. Normally, i would have had September closed on the 3rd. It is now the 12th and I am no where close.

I havent finished my bank recs for July yet, so that's over a month over due. I swear i never should have gone on vacation.

So my boss got really mad on Friday about another student service issue and threatened to fire my staff if they couldn't "use their brains" and make some decisions with good judgement and creativity. Shortly after that conversation, I got an email from another department, a dean, and a student service coordinator that referenced a process that had been changed in this new upheaval. I told them what the new process was, and copied my boss like she asked me to on all pertinent communications (must keep her informed). Yesterday I checked my email and she said "we need to talk about that email". That means I shouldn't have told those people the process changed. So now I'm confused. Are we supposed to communicate, coordinate, and be transparent with other departments or are we not. I have no idea.

Sorry for the wall of text.. I obviously needed to vent. I really just shouldn't have checked my email this weekend.

Sorry Sarah- Sounds to me like your boss isnt making herself clear to anyone. I have met bosses in my life that like to keep all pertinant info to themselves (sort of power play) so they can then some back and say, No you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, sometimes she is like that. I really don't know what to think at this point. I've been working for her for 4 years, and she goes through phases of wanting to know and control everything, and then not wanting to know or control anything. She is really hard to read. After 4 years I still have a hard time finding a happy medium with her. This latest boat rocking session has put it on overdrive though. Oh well, I'll deal until the wedding and then FI and I can talk about me changing jobs...

hi all!
I worked yesterday, so nothing interesting there...though I did get the 'stalk' my friend through her labor. I can see the L&D boards from my unit so I knew as soon as she delivered before even her family. It's a weird, fun feeling to know the big news before anyone else, but of course I kept quiet. ya know HIPPA and all...=)

Today I'm making a playlist for our troupe road trip to NOLA on Thursday! We're performing at the New Orleans Burlesque festival. I have rehearsal for it in about 2 hours. I'm gonna make an omelet at some point to use up my sliced veggies.

That's about it! It's lovely out here in chicago! hope it's sunny for you and yours! (wow that sounded like a cheesy weather girl sign-off!) =P

I once took over a store where the manager before me wouldnt tell anyone anything. For the first few months my phone would ring off the hook, asking stupid questions these people should know from day one.

The only reason I can see behind it is to make themselves needed so they dont become obsolete. Sort of if I have all this information they cant run this place without me. It didnt work in his case.

Good. I'm done, actually. I didn't do much, just drew a very rough sketch of what I want with the girl's tattoos. Then I took some photos of the sketch with close-ups of the tattoos so the designers can follow them as closely as possible. I didn't do any color though, so I'm just going to describe the colors I want and give another book cover as a reference.

Here is part of the cover. it's not very good, but I wasn't really concerned with accuracy. I just wanted to give an idea of the girl's position/stance and tattoos.

ETA--it's meant to be a map. So when you read the book they make sense, they aren't a bunch of randomness.

I never described it as theater, but hey I guess it works! A lot of the girls in our troupe have theater backgrounds whereas I have none. I'm a terrible actress and can't sing for crap, but I can shake it with the best of them!

Jasmineh--where in Montana are you from? We just went to a wedding in Bozeman (or just outside of it) and it was at a barn, and everytime I see your sig I think to ask you!
