There is a really broad range for invitations. My BFF and her FI paid under ~$200 (or so they say) for their StD and 100 wedding invites. We paid $546.00 for 175 invites. Another friend paid over $1,000 for her wedding invites.

Having raised lettering or embossing is more expensive. The kind of paper can make is more expensive. So can colored ink, design, jewels, number of cards, number of invitations, size of invitation, etc.

  • Ours were about $1,000 for 120 invites including the double envelopes, rsvp card, and return address printing.

    That's crazy!
  • We're paying about $80 for the materials. Mom and I decided a few weeks ago that we would print our own invitations.
  • ours were around $200 for 150 invites w/ envelopes, 100 RSVPs w/ envelopes, 100 enclosure cards
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Ours were $1,015 for 125 super thick (220 lb. white crane paper) with letterpress invitations (2 ink run-throughs), 150 inner envelopes with blush liner, 150 outer envelopes with embossed return address, 125 response cards and envelopes with address printed, and 125 reception cards.
  • We picked out a rectangle invite with envelopes and an inner rsvp card with envelope for that to send back and its just over $250. Does that sound about right?
  • Ours are $800 for 110 and we're also getting calligraphy which will be about $250

  • With a Groupon and two Living Social deals, I spent $47 for 100 invitations with envelopes, RSVP cards and envelopes, and envelope seals.  I designed and uploaded them.

I'm waiting for another deal for the thank you cards that match the suite.

  • Thats an awesome deal brooklyn!
  • Ours were $100 which includes the 100 invitations, outer envelopes, rsvps, rsvp envelopes, and direction/menu cards, not counting stamps.
  • $1.25/invite which includes everthing, including addressing
  • We did ours through Wedding Paper Divas. I used a lot of coupon codes.

For about $365 we got 120 invites, enclousure cards, thank you cards and envelopes for all of that. We also got the return address printed on the RSVP envelopes.

  • We paid about $150 for 125 (I think?) invitations with envelopes, 500 return address labels for us, 250 return address labels for my parents for responses, 500 postcards for thank yous.  We ordered from 123print.com.  They are very simple with no inserts, bellybands, pockets, etc. but the quality of them is great.
  • Our budget is $1,000 for 200 invites with double envelopes, reception cards, RSVP cards and return envelopes. We're using a calligrapher for the addresses, but that cost is separate.

What kind of paper? Digital or thermographic printing? Color ink or black?

  • We are having a small ceremony at Walt Disney World so we only bought 25 invites and paid $225 for them. (which inclues "free" Thank you cards) They have mickey and minnie on them! And then for the family and friend picnic in July we are typing up those invies on printer paper with a pink/green border with butterflies on it. That paper cost us $12 for 100 sheets.
  • Ours were just under $400... And came with all the inclosure cards and return addresses printed on the outer envelope as well as the address on the rsvp cards.

I printed ours too.... I mostly used paper/cardstock that we accumulated a while back though, so I spent less than that.  I had no idea invitations could be so expensive... geeze.
A few bucks for ribbon and glue/tape, I have yet to buy envelopes, there was some printer ink....
  • Using Groupons, Moolala deals etc. ours will be about $125 for 105- 5x7 flat digitally printed invites, 3.5 x 5 RSVP cards, & 3.5 x 5 enclosure cards (I'm cutting 5x7 card in half) from Mixbook.com.    And another $100 on blue inner & outer envelopes from Paperpresentation.com that I really wanted.
    Anniversary
  • Ours will be under $300 for 100 in 5x7 invites with envelopes that already have the return address printed, 100 RSVPs with pre-printed envelopes, 100 direction/accommodations inserts and 100 place cards. I am also using 123print.com
  • No offense ladies, but I can't believe how much some of you are spending on paper that your guests will literally throw away.

We are spending about $100-150 for 125 invites, including postage. I made & printed my own using scrapbooking supplies. With the help of 4 friends, we got them done in one day. They are more intricate than a simple white invite too. I'd rather spend more money on a great photographer or an extra barrel of beer than on paper.

  • We got a groupon for ours....$69 for $150 worth of invites. We ended up paying about $100 on top of that. We only had 45 invites though...

  • I think our were ~$150 for 300 invites. The invites are held in a jacket and have response cards & envelopes. I personally didn't want to spend alot of money on a piece of paper that the majority of people will briefly look at and just throw away.

I agree 100%. However, my parents are hosting and there are certain expectations in my family of what that means. I was happy with Vista Print invites but Mom wanted more formal ones that we had to go to a store to pick out. Since she's footing the bill I couldn't argue that they're too expensive. They are beautiful though so I do love them!

I paid just around $200 for all of my invitation "materials" which included the design work and all of the paper and envelopes.  I printed and assembled them at home to save money and they turned out amazing!  I'm in love with our invitations.  We showed them to FI's mom and she asked where we had them done.  LOL.

I agree with PP -- no need to spend an extravagant amount on paper that will be tossed in the end.  There are so many inexpensive and beautiful ways to make invitations.

Edit: I'll be making about 90 invitations.  They include the invite, 2 inserts, RSVP envelope, panel pocket, and large envelope.  I am making my own wrap-around address labels.  Stamps will obviously add on to the cost.
  • I am having mine designed and made in our print shop at work... so it will be $130 for our invitations, RD invites and ceremony programs.

  • I spent about $90 in supplies for 100 invites (and that includes everything).  I ordered extras of everything because I'm making them myself and wanted some extras in case I mess up.

  • About $40 for the kits I'm using and the extras I'm using to make them look nicer.
