Check!!

I've been putting off ordering invites but I finally did it!  I ordered them off here!  I'm so nervous.. I had my parents look at them and FI but I'm still nervous there's a typo or something ridiculous!  We also got the matching place card settings :) And saved $130 with discount codes!!!!!! They should be here March 9 and will go out a few weeks after that! Woo hooo!

AND I finished my registry!! I didn't mean to find out what people had gotten me, I didn't even think anyone had started shopping, but I did! So exciting!  I'm nervous that there isn't enough.. or there's too much.. orrr I don't know.. This is a weird time.. 3.5 months away! IT CAME SO QUICK..

Happy Monday!

    Congrats on the checks!

I'm having the "I have too much on here" feeling with my registry.  I keep trying to remind myself that it means I'm giving people a lot of options.

Did you go to a real invite shop or did you order them online?  I'm in invite hell and can't figure out how to save money and get nice invites at the same time.  I have had no luck with the Etsy site - I just don't see anything I like.  When i went to Papier Gourmet, they wanted over $700 for 75 invites - WAY TOO MUCH for me!!!

We were going to go with an online company that used eco papers and dried flowers, so we asked for a sample of one that we liked that was on sale.  We ended up not liking it that much, which made me wary of ordering online.  If you have a Costco membership, we saw some nice invites you can get through Costco on their website.

We are probably going to go with a company called Signed, Sealed, and Delivered.  They do custom work, so you tell them what colors and designs, and they put something together for you.  For under 100, I think they are about $8.50 per invitation with digital printing, but that also includes your RSVP card, inner/outer envelopes, and at least one other card (reception, map, etc.).  Plus they provide stamps for the outer envelope and RSVP card, stuff everything, do the calligraphy on the envelope, and mail them.  If you aren't looking to DIY at all, I think they are a good option, and there is something nice about meeting with a person and talking things through (ok, my mom was right on this one).

I met with Lauren of Signed Sealed and Delivered and really liked her and their stuff, but it's way out of our budget.  We don't need anything but the invite and reply card and my mom knows calligraphy.  I am looking for a project but am not a creative person so stuffing and stamping envelopes is right up my alley.  Unfortunately, we can't save a lot of cost by only having them produce the invites and reply cards - it seems to be all or nothing.  Oh well.  I'm sure you'll be very pleased with them - they seem to provide great product and fabulous service!

I bought simple kits at Michael's that I'm going to spruce up with my own personal touches.  I paid a total of $40 for two kits that will make 60 invites.  After I bought the embellishments, it's brought the total up to $55.  I am sacrificing fancy invites for being able to put more money into other areas of the budget.

Yeah, I got the impression with them that it's all or nothing, but my mom wants us to have calligraphy (and we cannot do it ourselves), so I figured that they were a good package for us.  (We met with Lauren, too, and liked her as well.)

And I don't think you have to be particularly crafty to do a substantial amount of the work with invitations.  We saw some kits that were under $2 each (I think--let me know if you want me to try to dig up the site) that you assemble yourself, meaning gluing on flowers or tying ribbons, so you don't need to come up with the design yourself, but you do the stamping/stuffing plus other similar tasks.

hcorrigan, yes that's what I want to do also.  We are already over budget and invitation just aren't the top of the list for me.  Of course, they really set a tone for the wedding and serve a purpose more than just providing date and time, so it's hard to balance out quality and cost.  Oh well, I'll get there.

jessica, yes, if it's easy for you to find the website, that would be very helpful!!  Thanks!

Can someone tell me how to highlight a prior response to reply to?  My reply button doesn't seem to work!  Thanks!!

You click "quote," not reply.  I don't know if you can only quote part of a response...I haven't figured out how, and I think that's why people manually bold (like I did above).

The sites I was looking at are: <a href="http://www.sweetinvitations.com/cards.asp" rel='nofollow'>http://www.sweetinvitations.com/cards.asp</a> and <a href="http://www.invitesite.com/weddings/Sale-wedding-invitations.php?FilterName=Sale&Page=1&ProductType=IK" rel='nofollow'>http://www.invitesite.com/weddings/Sale-wedding-invitations.php?FilterName=Sale&Page=1&ProductType=IK</a> (we got a sample of this one, <a href="http://www.invitesite.com/weddings/products/Catherine-Wedding-Invitations-CATHKIT.php#," rel='nofollow'>http://www.invitesite.com/weddings/products/Catherine-Wedding-Invitations-CATHKIT.php#,</a> but the envelope color didn't seem right with the forget-me-not, and we didn't like the overall design as much as we thought we would).

If you only want to quote part of someone's message, just delete the part of their message that you don't want to include.

I just ordered them off of theknot.com!  With the discounts they had running I spent less than $500 on invites, response cards (and envelopes for both), inserts with information for the guests and matching place card settings.  I got 125 invites, response cards & info inserts w/ envelopes and 175 place card settings.  And I got free shipping.  Invites weren't that important to me and they match the theme of the wedding!! They'll be here March 9 and I'll assemble them! YAY!

This is the invite!! Simple & perfect!
