  Hi! No - I talked to Heather (are you working with her too? isent she great?!) and she told me that it was not necessary - maybe a good idea, but not required. Since we are paying for the entire thing ourselves if we can cut costs we are going to.
  
  I am actually having my guy friends bartend. There are about 7 of them that I think are going to help and prolly only a couple will need to be back there at a time so there will be plenty of other times when they are not bartering that they can dance and mingle. I am also only serving beer and wine so I just really need people to pour. They would be around the bar a lot anyway even if they were not barteding so it fits .

  October 15th..yes Heather has been awesome! She basically said the same thing to me. Our parents are a little worried though and keep bringing up insurance. Im just not sure if its worth it and if anything did happen who is liable..us because we supplied it or bartenders because they served it?

  Yea I dont know - I know Heather has names of bartenders you can hire...I might consider calling them and just asking them - I bet they would have some additional info.
  
  You are the weekend after us! How exciting! Have you joined the Oct 2010 board yet? They are such a great group of girls! I would highly recommend it!
  
  Have you figured out what kind of food you are going to have? I am really looking forward to the meal - I think their food is awesome. Are you doing decorations with them at all? I think we are doing chair covers and having them put in some extra cocktail tables in the upper level but that is it. Which room did you book?

  I lurk on the october 2010 from time to time but havent posted anything. We are getting the white chair covers with black table cloths and napkins. I haven't really thought about additional decorations yet except the centerpieces our florist is doing for us. We are in the diamond hall. i just set up our food tasting for the end of frebruary, we are probably doing a 4 cheese ravioli and some chicken dish (they are going to come up with some for us to try because my fiancee doesn't like tomatoes or muchrooms which makes it kinda hard!!), and we will also do a chicken strip kids meal. I need to go back and look at the space again because we are inviting a lot of people so we may need to use that space up by the dj for more tables!

  Can I join your discussion too, even though I'm not October?  I'm the first weekend in November, so I'm pretty close.  You'll have to let me know how the food is... we probably won't do our tasting for awhile.  I second the review on Heather- she has been amazing so far!  Are you both doing plated or buffet?    My dad has the same concern about insurance, so we're still trying to figure out what to do for the alcohol (we won't have much, though, since we're doing a lunch wedding....)

  We did our tasting back in January 2009 and the food is awesome! Seriously. I am from an Italian family so food was important and it got a thumbs up from my fam. We are doing what I think is still called the Casablanca buffet but are doing it somewhat family style by courses. I think it is going to turn out great.

  We are doing plated...because we have so many people invited. Heather said that if you do buffet you should ideally have less than 200 people. we also will have kids (4 flower girls!) so i think kids would be hard with a buffet also. I will let you know how the tasting goes...though it is not for another month. Drdifabio: what did you all taste at your tasting? Did they give you the side dish to taste also? I am just wondering becaue we ate at the restaurant next door and my fiance did not like their mashed potatotes...though i am not even sure if the restaurant is the same food as the wedding catering. Do you know?

  I think the chef is the same for the restaurant but I dont think you can get all the same food both places if that makes sense. We were interested in the Casablanca buffet so we tasted everything on that plus they brought out a few similar options to taste as well. They served us a full plate - sides and all. I would guess the way it comes to you during the tasting would be the way it would also come to the guests...that way you can look at presentation too.  They are very flexible on what you want to include - for instance, we wanted the stuffed chicken and I think it came with one kind of rice but we liked a different rice better so we subbed one out for the other. So I would guess if you dont like the mashed potatoes it would be super easy to substitute for square potatoes or a baked potato or whatever you guys like better.
