October 2012 Weddings

I might be crazy but....CHECK!!

So, I posted about maybe using cards & pockets to DIY my own invitations and someone pointed out that with only 81 days that it was going to be a lot of work with not a lot of time...

..but my FI kept insisting it would be fine and no problem (of course he didn't offer to help, just reassured me my sister would help) so we went ahead and ordered all the custom cardstock and pocketfolds and printed RSVP envelopes.  It ended up being $212 for absolutely everything which was much cheaper than the fancy invites we had looked at before but I am terrified I am in wayyyy over my head and bit off more than I could chew.  I guess I'm naturally a worry-wort but with only 81 days, I am freaking out that I'm never going to get the invites done and in the mail in time :(

Cards and pockets said everything should arrive no later than next Friday.  If a give myself 1 week to get everything printed, stuffed, addressed, sealed and stamped (ughhh so much work!) I should have them in the mail by Aug. 27th (the two month mark)

SO worried/stressed.  I hope this wasn't a terrible mistake :( I just keep having visions of the printer jamming, ink blobs everywhere, the text not lining up...etc.

Please someone reassure me everything will be fine and everything will get done quickly.

ugh I'm probably overreacting...but pray for me anyway hahaha

  • I'm not doing my own invites, but I wanted to wish you good luck!  Hopefully things will go smoothly!!

  • It will be okay. I promise : I printed 150 invites in like 2 hrs. All you have to do is sit down and type out what you want. Stick the paper in there and go. I printed address on the envelopes. That was what took forever NC I had to do one by one. I say do that asap. You can print the rsvp in no time. Just relax, it will all come together!

  • Good luck, although you won't need it. I think you will be just fine. :

  • While on one hand I dearly would love to reassure you, on the other hand, I had terrible problems with my own DIY invites.  It all depends on your setup and experience.

Definitely accept any help that you can get.  Even if you feel like you are imposing, just accept the offer!  If I hadn't let my future SIL help me, I'd still be cussing at that printer.  And don't let your FI get away with not helping.  Mine got his butt sat down with a sponge and the seals for the envelopes (he's sweet and didn't mind though.  It's just that guys don't think to volunteer).

    Every little bit helps!

  • I am mailing mine out tomorrow. They were not DIY but I still had to put them together. We did do the melted wax seal on the inner envelope and that took a whole Saturday. Stuffing 75 invites and addressing them took around five hours.
  • Like PPs said, accept any and all help. We DIYed our invitations and it didn't take a ton of time but you definitely want to get on it ASAP as soon as you get the supplies. I would say added up it took us about four days, but that was spread out over a span of time. Do any and all prep work now, before the stuff arrives and it is crunch time. Get everything typed out and proof read so it is ready to go. If you are printing your addresses, get that set up on the computer. Or if you have envelopes already and can start handwriting addresses. Make sure you have stamps, etc... I can't think of anything else, lol.

    Good luck!!
