Recommend your...

Best face stuff. My skin sucks, especially lately. Like, really sucks. Has anyone had amazing luck with any otc stuff (besides proactiv)?
I realize what works for you might not work for me, blah blah blah..

Re: Recommend your...

  • I have bad skin...really oily and just blah. I've been using Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Scrub and it seems to be making a difference.
  • Clean and Clear scrub. Not the kind with the big beads in it. There's a diffent kind that's a fine grit. I've been using it since I was 13 and have stayed relatively break out free, save the hormone induced problem areas. Also, Oxy pads if I get lazy and don't want to actually use soap and water.

cetaphil or clearasil (sp?) for soap stuffs and I use a dove face moisturizer.

EDIT: Amazingly enough the moisturizer cleared up the oily parts & the dry parts to my skin --- before I wasn't using it on the oily patches because I thought it would make them worse but it did help.

Also for sunburns : Instead of using aloe --- use hair conditioner. The best one is Suave's Aloe Vera & Water Lily. Saves the skin, gets to where the burn is, and doesn't hurt when you rip your shirt off in the morning.
  • Oh, and at night if I'm feeling lazy I use Neutrogena make-up remover wipes (always) and then Neutrogena Stress Free cleaning pads
  • There is a great spot treatment from clean and clear in a little silver tube. FI has one of those vibrating face scrubbers, which makes his skin better when he uses it consistently.

  • I have given up with trying to use a bunch of products and just use dove unsented soap and oil of olay sensitive skin moisturizer.

I've beenthinking about trying that one. Now I just may
  • You know, the only thing I've found that really works for me is from Lush. It's called Angels on Bare Skin.

That said, my skin can still get pretty crappy- as it is right now- when it's humid and I start wearing short-sleeved tops to bed, thus end up with my face resting on my arm during the night.
  • Night, I haven't bought one of those because I wasn't sure if it would work. I might give it a shot then.

  • I also have one of those neutrogena things...the microderm abrasion.(sp?) i like it too.

  • Try using something fragrance free, like Cetaphil daily skin wash, not the face wash. Sometimes fragrances can cause irritation.

Same here. Like the one Vanessa Hudgens did the commercials for? Are they pricey?
  • Oh, and I use the oil of olay sensitive skin fragrance free also. I love it.

Do you mean the Daily Pore Scrub or something like that? Opaque blue tube? That's what I use and I love it - it's the only thing that doesn't leave a film on my face.

Btw, roxy, awful skin was my first pg symptom.

skinceuticals gentle cleanser has made a huge difference in my skin. you can find it for cheaper online than in salons! the other gentle cleanser i really liked was actually an arbonne one.

as far as ones you can buy at the drugstore, i think Purpose liquid cleanser is the best. it's similar to Cetaphil but not TOO gentle like Cetaphil can be for some people.

    good luck!
  • Nothing helps my skin except being on the pill. I've tried so many different kinds of cleansers, toners, wipes, and scrubs and my face still breaks up. Boo skin.

When I was on the pill it didn't help at all. Boo :(
  • oh, and i still think Neutrogena's oil-free moisturizer for sensitive skin is the best out there! i have tried everything.
  • Boo roxy! I took a break from the pill and my skin (and hair) flipped out. Oily and shiny, so many hard to get rid of pimples, and awful, awful red bumps. I finally started back and am ready for things to normal back out.

Thats the only moisturizer I'll use. Every other moisturizer I've ever tried makes my face burn which is odd because I've never had a facewash or toner cause burning.

This three piece kit completely saved my face. It's the same idea as Proactive, but it's more "natural." I bought it like a year ago and when I ran out of the face wash the other two pieces just kept going and going..I still have them and use them. Once my skin got under control with all three pieces I was able to switch to a different face wash and just use the two remaining pieces.

It's the only thing that's ever worked for me. I warn you that it is drying and weird in the begining while your skin is getting used to it.

I'm ok with drying. While I don't have oily/ shiny skin it is never dry. I did do nuetrogena skin id and I loved it. I just got fed up with their automatic reordering system nonsense.
  • There's no automatic reordering with this, that's why it's great. I used to get big cystic acne (so gross) and this stuff completely cleared it up!

  • Yea, I've been getting the cystic kind lately too.

This is funny from their website:
“I bought Acjuva for my teenage son. He suffered from BAD acne. So bad, that even I had a hard time looking at him.

  • I think Josh's was 20 or 30 bucks. I don't remember right off hand.

It takes my skin a couple of months to improve when I change pills... thus, I'm staying on what I'm on now for awhile, rather than changing back to my previous pill which was much cheaper!
