December Birthdays

Does anyone have a December Birthday here?

If so, do you get gipped due to the holiday season?

I have the lucky birthday of 12/26 and it stinks.

Mine's next saturday the 18th! Exactly one week from Christmas and it sucks!!! All my friends every year would say they are low on cash so here's one gift for your birthday and Christmas. Gee thanks. It's like me giving you the right foot of a shoe in June and the left foot for Christmas.

My grandmom would do the same thing. She'd give me a check for $200 for bday and xmas and she'd feel bad for my brother so she'd give him $200 for Christmas then another $200 for his birthday in Feb. wtf!

My parents did a good job in making sure I never got gipped from them. Though there were times they combined my gifts but that was because it was a very big/expensive gift, which is understandable.

Oh one more thing... it's not about presents anymore since I'm older.. now it's about getting people together for my birthday and that's a huge PITA! Everyone's so busy, with family time, work parties, etc. So I have to plan like two months in advance yet at the same time I can't because people won't know when their work party is until after Thanksgiving. so frustrating.

same here!  my parents did do a good job of evening things out but they are the only ones.   i love your analogy about the shoe hahaha.

it is impossible to get people together to celebrate, its all about holiday parties and then its all about new years.   my parents threw me a 'half birthday' pool party one year so i could actually celebrate.

Im this Saturday, the 11th! Exactly two weeks before Christmas. My family has always been pretty good about separating my birthday and Christmas, but, like Northstar said, getting friends together is a huge PITA. We do a big college friends holiday party in December, so my birthday usually gets tacked on to that. This year we're using one of our engagement present gifts, a gift certificate to our favorite restaurant, to go out with another couple and celebrate on Friday.

I don't, but my FI's birthday is December 27th.  I always do a separate present for Christmas and his birthday.  His family usually just gives him his "birthday gifts" on Chirstmas.

Ooo and also, FI's birthday is right before Valentines Day and mine is, obviously, right before Christmas. We decided when we started dating that we would go big on birthdays and skip presents on V/C Days. It makes my birthday more special knowing I'll at least get something wonderful from FI.

bean- that is an excellent idea by the both of you.

FI said he got me a 'big gift' for christmas, and 'accessories' to go with my 'big gift' for my birthday.  ugh.

My Dad's birthday is this Friday, and my Mom always worked really hard to celebrate it seperately. His Dad's birthday is also this month, so I think growing up everything was pretty much lumped together.

This year Mom's birthday gift was such a PITA that we told Dad that's what he was getting as well, but we did give him a little something on Monday (we're not going to see him to celebrate on Friday).

I'm the 28th! My parents also did a great job of separating Christmas from my bday. And FI always makes sure to make my bday special. I usually go to a bar on my birthday (even if it's on a weekday) and just send a massive text saying I'm there. The past 3 years TONS of people have showed up :-)

DH and I have Dec. Birthdays mine is the 4th his is the 7th. It's far enough away from Christmas that we usually have always had separate things for each (even growing up). My nephew is the 30th and we are making sure to keep things separate for him too.

My sister's birthday is the 26th.. but she's never really gotted "gipped" for gifts.  We always made sure that her birthday and Christmas were separate.  The only reason I give her birthday present to her on Christmas now is because since I work in retail parttime, I always have to work on her birthday... or I have to work at the station if Christmas is in the middle of the week.  Last year was the first time in 8 years that I was able to see her on her birthday.

I miss my sister... :( I wish it was Christmas already so that I could see her.  She lives on the other side of PA now so I only get to see her a few times a year.

all this talk about birthdays makes me want a birthday cake. So I just txted DH that I want a birthday cake and that he better get me one. lol. He's usually pretty good at things like that but it's been so busy and we're having a secret santa party on my birthday that he will probably forget.

I used to get a birthday cheesecake.  There's this amazing cheesecake place Tuckahoe NJ called The Tuckahoe Cheesecake Factory.  My bday is in the summertime, so we used to stop by Tuckahoe on our way to Sea Isle, or on our way home from Sea Isle and pick up the best cheesecake ever.

Oh how I miss cheesecake. I became severely lactose intolerant about 2 years ago :-(

ALemma that's terrible!!!  I don't know how I would survive being lactose intolerant or celiac.  I love ice cream and bread far too much.

Does taking Lactaid pills help at all?  My MOH because lactose sensitive (not full blown intolerant) when we were in college, and Lactaid pills helped her.  Then she moved to Ireland and didn't have any issues, and hasn't had a problem since.

It's miserable :-( Cheese was my favorite thing EVER haha. Especially cheesecake.

I have lactaid pills and they help somewhat but I still end up feeling horrible after eating dairy so I just cut it out all together. I try to make myself feel better by saying it's healthier to not eat it anyway but I still miss it haha.

Mine is Dec 13 (the beginning of the 12 days of Christmas!) .. When I was little I definitely got the Christmas/Bday presents.   My mom tried hard not to do that to me, but everyone else basically did.  I think even if people don't intend to, it just happens... because they are already spending so much on Christmas in general, they just end up being tight for bdays around that time as opposed to a random June birthday.

Like Northtstar said - as I get older, my main issue is trying to get together for my bday, it just doesn't happen.  Too many Christmas parties, office parties, etc.. I give up :)

PS - a.lemma:  have you tried lactaid milk?  It's the best thing ever!   I'm also lactose intolerant.  but between lactaid milk and pills, i'm good.  i actually practically never do the pills, i just suffer.  did you also know that most cheeses are lactose friendly?  the main one that isn't is mozzarella.  all cheddars are lactose-free.

Well, I can't eat any fruit at all without going into anaphylactic shock... so I feel your pain with not being able to eat something you love.  I miss plums more than anything.  It's because I'm SO allergic to trees... so I can't have fruit.  I can eat bananas and grapes, but it gets old.  I want apples and pears and plums.  And peaches...

I've tried the lactaid and it's good but I buy rice milk. It's my favorite! I actually just read that I can eat cheddar cheese yesterday. I had NO idea! But I was afraid to try because I read so many conflicting facts about lactose intolerance on the internet. I'm buying some this weekend :-)

Northstar - I don't blame you for wanting a traditional bday cake.  My bday is in March and most years H doesn't get me a cake.  I'm not a big cake/pastry eater so he doesn't think I want one... but I secretly do, just for the fun of it.  Plus, I can eat one slice and he can have the rest!

RA - That's awful! I'm actually somewhat allergic to apples. My mouth/throat gets really itchy when I eat them but other than that I'm fine. I would be so sad if I couldn't eat peaches :-(
