4. City Live in? We currently live in a suburb of Atlanta called Douglasville....but we are literally 5 min from the Atlanta city limits.

5. Where did you go to college? I went to Howard University in Washington, DC. The BEST HBCU in the land! HU.........U KNOW!

6. What was your major? International Business with a concentration in Finance

7. What is your current job? I am a Financial Analyst for The Home Depot in the HD.com Finance group. I primarily report on Home Decorators Collection sales, margin, inventory, retail store sales, and forecasting. I also am responsible for monitoring the website tracker to see the daily traffic as well as the sku maintenance for the HDC skus on the HD.com site.

8. What is your dream job? My dream job is to be the Executive Director of the non profit that I am in the process of starting called Destined 2 Be. It is an organization for underprivileged teenage girls in the Atlanta area to help prepare them socially and professionally to realize their dreams despite their familial backgrounds.

9. How did you and your fiance meet? We met 5 years ago at a mutual acquaintance birthday party. I was friends with the birthday girl's roommate and he was friends with another friend of the birthday girl.

10. When did you get engaged and how did he do it?? I got engaged on Monday, October 10, 2011 sitting at home watching the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night football. My brother and his GF at the time came by the house so that he could hang some mirrors for me. Earlier that day, FI said that I needed to hurry home because we needed to talk. Well, he doesn't "talk" much so I was of course thinking the worst! Well, since he never brought anything up, neither did I. About 9:30ish, my brother and his GF left, the kids were in the bed, FI made my plate (where he had made my favorite....SPAGHETTI!) and then he sat next to me on the sofa and said so I said we needed to talk. He started talking about how we had been through so much, the ups and downs, and when you meet someone who has an impact on your life and love them so much you do whatever you can to make sure you don't lose them. BUT, sometimes it doesn't happen in the way you envisioned. He then said he could never imagine living without me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. Would I be his wife? No, I didn't cry, I was more so in shock because after almost 5 years I couldn't believe that THIS ONE was saying this on THIS DAY!. LOL....Oh yea, the answer was YES!

*I don't think it was coincidence the Cowboys were on....that's his fave team outside the Falcons.

11. When is the Wedding Day? Saturday, November 17, 2012

12. Where is the ceremony and reception? The ceremony is at my childhood church (my mom's church) First Congregational Church, UCC and our reception is at The Defoor Centre, an art gallery in the Howell Mill district. Both in Atlanta.

13. What are your wedding colors? Navy, Fuschia, and Pewter....or like I like to refer to them Indigo, Raspberry, and Platinum

14. Where are you honeymooning? COSTA RICA!!!!!

15. Favorite wedding vendor so far? My event designer! She is the BOMB.COM and I can't WAIT to see how our space is going to be TRANSFORMED!

16. Biggest wedding splurge? Decor! Don't make me think about it.....but its going to be sooooo wonderful!

17. What is something you wish you could have at the wedding but don't? I wish I could have an Open Bar (for FI sake), but it just can't make the cut.

18. Another knottie wedding you'd like to attend? Definately Tracey! That is my Homie

19. Favorite book? The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

20. Favorite movie? The Best Man

21. Favorite tv show? The Cosby Show but if I have to come to current shows, I would say I really like The Game and I DVR The View EVERYDAY

22. Favorite wedding dress designer? Amsale

23. Any advice you can give? Enjoy your engagement and DO NOT let the antics of planning a wedding destroy your relationship. I think FI and I would be at a different place and our engagement would have been MUCH MORE exciting if I hadn't had been consumed with wedding planning. Being an only child AND a wedding planner.....I placed so much unnecessary pressure on myself to make sure everything is PERFECT and BREATHTAKING. In the end, what is....IS! Just enjoy the moment.....so now with 129 days out....I'm enjoying what I can get done and if I scale back guest list or anything, I can do that because its OUR DAY! Also, don't take your WP on emotional rollercoasters with you.....eventually they will get fed up. Trust me!

24. Anything you wish you could change about your wedding? That it was a destination wedding. I feel it would be so much easier to deal with.

25. Share something about yourself! I secretly LOVE Chick Fil A's chocolate chip cookies.....so much that I cant stop myself. I am named after my dad (yep his name is Morgan as well). I LOVE my Fiance and God has truly blessed me with a wonderful man - I had to learn to love him through his faults.....especially when he has loved me through mine! I can't wait until we make this THANG OFFICIAL Last, this board has been such a great outlet for me and I appreciate the inspiration, prayers, and support you ladies give.

What?! I got a shout out! Well if you are in the Ohio area labor day weekend you are more than welcome to attend! I may have to crash Atlanta in November because yes your designer is the bomb! I know your ceremony and reception will be beautiful. I also wish you the best in starting up your organization. The community definitely needs more programs like that. How big is your wedding party? How many guests are you all planning for? Do you guys do anything big for your bdays since you are practically twins? And check your darn Facebook message...don't make me stalk you! Lol Congrats boo!

Its Morgan's turn! I thank God for you, lady. Your story above and posts in the past have been uplifting to me because I you share your issues with your enagagement. They help me keep pressing with my FI and not feel alone. That I'm not going crazy, everything will be alright and this day will come. Thank you for that. I know you day will be great! You know I don't wanna be a wedding crasher :) One of my besties lives in Dayton though, she's trying to move here....OH I HOPE SO!

The WP minus the parents is 20 people.....RIDICULOUSNESS! I have 6, he has 8 and there are 3 FG and 3 RB (well 1 RB, 1 Broom Carrier, and 1 Bible Carrier). We are planning for 150 guests. Actually that is THE MAX! If it can come down to 125....I would be ELATED! We usually take a trip together for our birthdays. Our first birthday together we spent a long weekend Fri-Sun in NYC. We went to Chicago. In 2010 we were supposed to go to Puerto Rico, but I was living in DC and got snowed in :(, in 2011 we went to Hawaii for 6 days and we didn't go anywhere this year, but I threw him a surprise party and the guests were basically the wedding party. It was easy to choose from. I can't wait to get back on our birthday trip cadence. But next year we probably won't go anywhere since just coming back from HM in November. But never know, maybe a cabin trip or something.

Super Awesome background story, and as Tracy said you guys better do it up in Feb especially witht the days being so close :-). I agree your nonprofit is definitely a needed venture for our young people. keep up the great work and stay focused ;-).

ps the message about avoiding taking your wedding planner on an emotional roller coaster with you is definitely a good point. It is also important to take heed to anyone else other than a WP that may be taken on that ride because some may not know how to deal with it and others simply just do not want to.

Hey Morgan girl.. Awww, your engagement story was so sweet.. And I receive the advice that you gave us about enjoying our engagements but don't let the antics ruin our relationship.. Thank you.. So many people get so caught up and forget about the relationship.. I really enjoyed getting to know you, and I think it is a really awesome thing you have going for the underprivileged teens. There are so many lost young women who continue the cycle of poverty, etc, because that's all they know.. God Bless this business...

I love your ogranization Destined 2 Be. How did you come to establish it? Where do you hope to see it in 5 years?

Amsale is a great designer. Did you ever watch her wedding show on WE? It took place in her flagship salon in NYC. It was entertaining but I don't know what happened to it after the first two seasons.

HEY!

I always wanted to start a teen mag for Black girls because there isn't one and when one starts it never remains. So it started out of an idea to get HS students interested in publishing and journalism. Then when I kept running into these LOST girls, I said they need mentors on a personal and professional level. I hope to see in 5 years there would be 5 national chapters (New Orleans, NYC, DC, Chicago, and Atlanta) and there would also be a scholarship given to those senior girls who are going to college. Also, we would probably have started a guys division as well and they could come together for a Bi-Annual Teen Conference to talk about any issues that are related to teens.

I love Amsale and its even better she's a Black designer. I did watch a few episodes, but I don't keep up with when shows come on tv....I just catch them when they are on.
