October 2012 Weddings

Anyone else stressed themselves into a rash?

Work had been ridiculous since June, and with wedding stuff... I think I stressed myself into a very itchy rash on my face, that's now moved onto my chest.

It started last week, on my face.  Like under my cheek bones and under my chin.  With nothing else changing, I blamed a new wine I tried... So I stopped drinking it (my inner wino cried a bit) and  my rash slowly went away after tons of aloe, soothing masks, and walking at lunch to destress.

Wednesday my venue cordinator called.  The sheet she gave me for the table layout said 8/table.  So I did my whole seating chart with 8... some 7s, few 6, one 5.  Figured I was good... well, no it's actually 10/table, so the 6s and 5 needed to go somewhere or otherwise look empty.  I FREAKED when I got off the phone, lucky my mom didn't write table numbers on the escort cards yet... and we reworked it all in time for venue to order the linens for us the next day!

Thursday morning - rash is back!  I did another soothing mask last night but I'm soo itchy!!! I wish benedryl didn't give me panic attacks...and now it's going to my chest.  It's really not visible, but you can feel bumps... AH!

Happen to anyone else, or am I crazycakes?

    Haha. That made me laugh.

I tend to get hives a lot. Unfortunately, if it really is caused by the stress then the only way to get rid of them is to destress . . . and I know how nearly impossible that is right now!

Don't take overly hot showers (heat makes mine worse) and do some deep breathing. Benadryl is the only thing that make mine (temporarily) better. Benadryl also puts me into a temporary coma . . . it sucks.

I hope you feel better soon.

Stress is the only thing that's really changed in my life, no new laundry detergents, face wash etc.  And yes, it's nearly impossible right now to get rid of that right now.

I wasn't thinking this morning and took a hot shower... I immediately changed it to cool when my face felt like it was on fire and itchy.  i'm having a NO WEDDING night tonight to relax with FI.

I miss benedryl.  I could take it as a kid, but since my teens it's given me panic attack-like symptons that aren't fun (racing heart, sweaty, shallow breathing).  I think I might look up clariton to see if that antihistimine will work.  We have to already for FI's allergies

  • Not rash, but I've been getting stress acne. Fun!

Best of luck! I also recommend cold showers or baths if you can take 'em. I get heat rashes and they help. Aloe too!

  • Cold compresses, and poison ivy cream. It'll have benedryl in it, but it won't be the same high dose as oral pills. Direct delivery of the antihistimines ti the hives will help. Also, listen to your inner wino if wine helps you relax! Avoid painkillers such as aspirin and ibuprofin, as they cause your body to release histimines. You can try OTC acid reducers such as ranitidine, which have antihistimine side effects. If you are more interested in homeopathic cures, you could try stinging nettle, peppermint, horsetail, and baical skullcap. Though these items are harder to find and prepare.

Me too! Every time I look in the mirror it's like I'm looking at my 15 year old self again. Except my acne was never this bad even back then.

Back a few weeks ago I had a bad rash and hives. I can't take Benedryl so I used the cream. Do you think you could use that, since the pills make you have panic attacks? If not try Cortisone10 (sp )that seems to help with the itching.Don't take hot baths try oatmeal baths. That seemed to help as well, and continue with the walks to help stress down! Hope this helps!
