Wedding Invitations & Paper

2 Receptions... HELP!

So... we're having a small (30 person) wedding in Hawaii in July '11 which will consist of immediate family and close friends only, followed by a big reception back East for extended family.

What is the best way to handle invitations? I know we'll have 2 versions, but I'm having trouble with how to word things... any help or insight to people who may be/have been in similar situations would be so appreciated.

Thank you!!!

Re: 2 Receptions... HELP!

  • For your first invite (ceremony) just do a regular invite to those that are invited.  For your second invite (reception back East) go with something like this:
    The pleasure of your company
is requested at a dessert (or whatever it is) reception
    at the home of
    Mr. and Mrs. Frederick White
    4 Blossom Street

This doesn't tell anybody what they're celebrating.  Generally the wording for a reception invitation is the same, you just say "reception celebrating the marriage of" instead of "the marriage of."

  • PPs are on the right track.

Event #1 - Issue invitations to the wedding itself.

Event #2 - Has its own set of invitations.  They'll often state, "X and Y will be married on Z date.  Hosts request the pleasure of your company at the reception in honor of their marriage on this date."
