Is it ever ok to break the rule??

Re: Is it ever ok to break the rule??

  • My best friend had a similar situation with a GM's wife. Actually, he was not a GM in the wedding because she was not in the wedding party. She was not mean but she is absolutly crazy.  They both attended the wedding and one thing we did was set up a bubble of protection around the bride.  Several of us knew the history of this women and we knew what she looked like and everytime she came near the bride there was a different reason that she had to be whisked away.  The night actually went pretty well until the afterparty (fortunatly the bride and groom were already in bed) when she started screaming and crying at one of the nicest bars in town and had to be escorted out.  All and all the interference worked.  I might have your bridesmaids come up with a couple of reasons why you would have to be somewhere else -- just in case she is able to show up.

This is a tough situation but if your FI values his friendship with this guy who chose unwisely it is best to invite her but be prepared. Thank goodness she is preggers!

wow all the newbs resurecting the thread and posting even after the OP said stop responding was mind numbing! I can't believe I just read all the its your day don't invite her responses...It was like a train wreck, I just couldn't stop staring in disbelief

ETA: Random but this is my first post since they changed the avatars, and I so don't like being the lame glasses, way to lazy to change it to anything else though lol
  • So far the person who said create a wall of protection around bride was the best solution I saw! Good idea.

At my friend's wedding we did that around some one who was really drunk even before ceremony. We just kept tag teaming to whisk her away before she got near bride. (and she was the owner of property where wedding was at!)

She also at the end annouced her engagement shortly after BM made toast.

  • I'm with you. One of my fiance's groomsmen has a wife that I got in a fight with and she kicked us out of the house that she didn't even pay for. She sits on her but while her husband works and she wanted to tell me how my relationship with my fiance should go. She tried to bring my son into it and tell me that he wasn't my son's father when that wasn't even mentioned. They tried to steel my fiance and take him to a party when we already decided that it wasn't a good idea. They zip tied his hands and feet and put him in the back of a truck. I got mad and told them to let him go. She asked what my problem was and I told her she was my problem so she swung at me. Anyway the point is I am not risking wedding disaster just to be nice. I'm not inviting her!

  • Fuuck. I always forget about the grundle. Is it weird that when I read grundle I think of Harry Potter?

  • There's a grundle in Harry Potter?! I might have to start reading those books now. ;)

  • No. I don't think so. That's why it's so weird.
  • Haha, maybe it's Grendel from Beowulf? I just saw that Beowulf was on tv, and I totally thought of grundles. They're everywhere!

  • Maybe that's what it is. I'm always getting my Beowulf, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter mixed up.

Don't worry about it. As you can see, this discussion is over. The OP even changed her post because she got her answer.
