Price Comparison Shopping For Tuxedos

I did a price comparison at four tuxedo shops. At three of the tux places I did not get a straight answer about the price. Three of the four places said "It depends". One place said that they did all-inclusive pricing so that everybody would know exactly what they would be paying. But I'll start with the ones who didn't give a straight answer first.
Joseph A. Bank said that the price depends on what you get and what upgrades come with it. When asked what an upgrade was, he said things like shoes, a nice shirt and pocket square. They were nearly 200 dollars for a rental. I didn't ask what a not-nice shirt looked like!
Savvi Formalwear gave a similar response and it seemed to be a young person who answered the phone or maybe just a trainee because she didn't seem to know very many answers. When I did get a person who  knew the pricing, it was about $180 for everthing.
Men's Wearhouse started with a lowball number, even though I had asked for the price of a nice tuxedo. When I asked again if this was their best they said "no". What's the price with everything for the nicest rental tux that you have? Do you need shoes? "Yes", I said -- everything. It's about $170 plus tax. What an ordeal, just to get a straight answer!
The one straight answer was -- the place where we're getting ours, King Tux Rentals. $149.99 for tuxes that are not black. That includes jacket, pants, shirt, cufflinks vest, tie and pocket square (any color/pattern) and fashionable shoes. Out of curiosity,(I said) how much for black tuxes? "For a 2-button notch lapel, best anywhere tux in black - $119.99 plus tax - all-inclusive"

So the bottom line is
Joseph A Bank $200
Savvi  -    $180
MW    -    $170
King Tux - $150 (or $120 if it's a regular black tux)

That sounds about right.  We went to Savii and MW and were quoted the same as you. We are getting Calvin Klein tuxes and they are costing us $180.

At MW, they weren't as straightforward with us (which annoyed me) but I think the final number would have been around $160-170.

Tuxes are a LOT more expensive than i would have thought.  We put a payment towards each of our GM's tuxes so they wouldn't have to pay so much.  That is more than my BMs will pay, even including their alterations --- and the men don't keep their outfits.  INSANE.

In calling around, we got quotes from bridal shops that also did tux rentals. For the most part, they do rentals piece-meal, meaning that a whole tuxedo rental does not include shoes or a pocket square (which is in fashion now).

A tip that I had gotten previously (that made sense) was to avoid getting tuxes at bridal shops, since they have no replacement pieces on-site (in case something doesn't fit just right) and because typically, the don't do men's measurements very well.

Celebrate Tuxedos in Peachtree City is currently running a special of a black tux for $75 or add your own choice of color vest/tie for $90.  And these prices included shoes!

Their other color tuxes run $90-$120 and these are not cheap tuxes -- all well known name brands plus their service is wonderful!  No pressure -- just wanted us to have the best tux at the best price.

AND had other specials like groom and ring bearers got their tuxes for free, etc.
