Comfortable Heels??

Hello! I'm getting married in 2 months and have started the shoe search! I need high heels because my FI is a foot taller than me, but can't find any comfortable heels! Any one have any suggestions for a brand that sell comfortable heels (i'm looking for 3.5 inch)??

Re: Comfortable Heels??

  • Aldo, Nine West, Bandolino - depending on the shoe canbe pretty comfortable. I would suggest getting ones with a little platform in the front - they're easier to walk in and don't put as much pressure on the balls of your feet.  Something like this...GL!

  • Aerosoles and Naturalizer make really comfy shoes. The cuteness factor definitely varies but they are the most comfortable. I also have a lot of Nine west shoes and those are pretty comfy as well.

I'm not sure WHY this is, but wedges tend to be a lot more comfortable than heels for me. I guess it's because there's a wider base for more support.
  • so i totally splurged beyond what i ever thought i would and bought manolo blahniks.  2 reasons

    1) they're gorgeous

more importantly 2) they are the most comfortable heels i've ever put on.

FI is 6'4" i'm 5'3" so i feel you with the height issue.

i know that the price is unreasonable.  but look at ebay or second hand stores.  totally totally worth it!

  • Nina makes super comfy shoes.

FWIW, J is a foot taller than me and I am wearing flats at our wedding.

There's more surface area of the shoe hitting the ground; instead of the tiny heel; you have about 5-10 times as much material hitting the ground with wedges. (Yep, I'm an Enginerd, I mean Engineer, lol :O)

Love this! And I figured that was why, but I didn't have the smart-speak to make it make sense! Haha. <div>
</div><div>OP: As others have said-- I'm 5'2" FI is 6'ish and I am wearing flip flops or going barefoot for our wedding and so is he. We're doing a beach wedding and even though it would be nice to have extra height, being comfortable in the sand is more important to me. Besides, I'm used to getting on my tippie toes and having him meet me in the middle for kisses anyway :P</div>
  • ditto what vanlu said about the platform heel.  huge comfort difference.  i'm 4'11" and wear HIGH heels all the time, my fave brands are charles david and franco sarto.  cole haan nike airs are super comfy but not as cute IMO.

another route you can go is to try on salsa/ballroom dancing shoes.  we go salsa dancing a lot.  they're like wearing sneakers.  DEF not as cute as the nina picture below but they come in silver/gold/copper, you could sew some embellishment on the front strap and you'll be running circles around everybody all night!

everybody raves about nina shoes.  i personally find them excruciating which is sad because i just found these on zappos:

I had cute green shoes for the ceremony and pics and changed into Blcoh ballroom shoes for dancing.  My feet loved me for that decision!  Bot were about 2.5" heels.

hz - I use the "enginerd" term all the time, too!  ;)

    Yay!
  • mine were from the brand RSVP. i got them from zappos.

i also put those gel inserts in my shoes, just for added comfort.
  • i have huge feet lol so i'm pretty much uncomfortable in anything except my running shoes...i just got a pair of heels off of shoebuy.com by j.renee and they're fantastic!

and I'm totally jealous you have so much room to work with on height...i'm only 2 inches shorter than my FI so i can't get the higher heels i love so much more haha

  • I love love love Cole Haan heels with nike air. I can wear them for hours and hours. They're pricey, so I try to find them on sale (I'm wearing his satin peep-toes which I found on sale at Endless).
  • You guys are great! Thanks for all the advice! I'll look into those brands and hopefully will find something. I have Nine West shoes, but those always hurt my feet. :S And I'm 5' and my FI is 6'1". I'm also pretty petite and he was a heavy-middle weight boxer, lol, we're an interesting looking pair. :) I admire breaness for being barefoot, but just for the wedding (cause I'm almost always in flats), I want to look a little taller!
  • I just got my shoes in the mail two days ago! I went with Nina Paladin in white. The heel isn't super high (2.25 in), but I needed something a bit shorter (FI is only 3 inches taller than me!) and closed toe for a winter wedding... I also ordered them a size larger than I normally wear because Nina shoes run small, and they fit perfectly! Combined with my 20% off coupon, I got such a deal!

I have the opposite problem as you, since my fiance and I are the same height. I ordered my wedding sandals from this website, but they have a lot of other great shoes, including heels, if you want to check them out. The shipping was fast too. I think I ordered and received them in less than a week. Good luck!

  • I am wearing a pair by Aldo...4" heel with a platform...incredibly comfortable.  And less than $100.00, which I am still amazed by.  GL
