Wedding colors dilemma... purple + what?

So our wedding is early next October, and our primary color (that we're using for the bridesmaid dresses etc.) is darkish purple/plum, and I was planning to do fall colored accents (like red/orange flowers). Unfortunately now I'm trying to do stationary things, and purple and red look kinda funny together. I feel like I need to tweak my color palette/maybe add a color for accents. Ideas?

Try shades of green.  They look absolutely beautiful together.   Actually, if you google "Purple and green weddings", you'll find a TON of examples.

We did "sangria" which is like a light wine, and apple green (see below for a picture of the flowers on the bridal party table, and a photo of me and my BM with our bouquets, which had both colors and her dress, which was sangria
<a href="http://forums.theknot.com/Sites/theknot/Pages/Main.aspx/wedding-boards_reception-ideas_wedding-colors-dilemma-purple-what?plckForumPage=ForumImage&plckPhotoId=9ef35fe8-c168-40b4-b178-5bd268f64ee4&plckRedirectUrl=http%3a%2f%2fforums.theknot.com%2fSites%2ftheknot%2fPages%2fMain.aspx%2fwedding-boards_reception-ideas_wedding-colors-dilemma-purple-what" title="Click to view a larger photo"></a>).  they looked gorgeous together.  But, a darker purple and a darker green look awesome too.

I think gold would look really pretty and elegant, and its a nice warm undertone for the fall.

This is the 3rd board I've seen you post this same question on so far.  I've answered you elsewhere.  Please put XP in the subject when you are going to post the same question on multiple boards.

Thanks everyone for your ideas! Sorry if I bothered you Joan... I couldn't decide which board this subject was most relevant to and don't usually post on these boards, so I don't know what "XP" signifies.

My wedding will be in June, and we are doing plum and orange with some green.  Here's an example of a bouquet I'm using as inspriration.  For autumn weddings, I've seen these colors warmed up with berries in the floral arrangemes, it's very pretty.  Go to Google images and put in the colors you'd like to see plus 'wedding' and you'll get tons of ideas.

My sister had an August wedding, and she did purple/sage/white, and it was lovely.

<div align="left">Sure!  Sorry about the one word response. I was on my phone and it was acting funky.   I really loved the Sangria color from Davids.  I also was able to match it with some things in "merlot" from Dessy (ballet flats for my BMs).

It really was a gorgeous, bold color.  And matched with the green it looked so awesome.  Here were our table centerpieces (with one of the programs that someone slid under). We ordered the programs from vistaprint.  The centerpieces were very similar to the bouquets, just with different wine/sangria flowers.  The bouquets had white tipped daisies, and the centerpieces had those little button mums (I think that's what they were).

OH!  And here is my card box that I am very proud of and made myself !  The ribbon from Michaels matched the Sangria perfectly also.

<div align="left">We did long dresses.  But, that was my BMs choice. I told them the color and told them to pick whatever dress they wanted, long or short.  They didn't have to match (actually, I'm sort of glad they were different. they looked awesome, and they were both very comfortable in the dress they selected).  It just so happened, that they both ended up choosing a long dress.

here is a full length picture.

here is the whole wedding party... the tuxes were rented from Men's Wearhouse, so they had a complementary "Sangria" vest and tie... and my partner bought the vest and tie in the green.

<div>It was on the redder side of purple, rather than the blue side.  Aubergine, I guess.  The dresses were made, and they were a purple velvet.  Originally we were planning on a summer wedding with either lavendar or purple and yellow, but when we changed to December we went with purple and gold because gold felt more wintery.</div><div>
</div><div>Most of our decor was gold - lights on the trees, fabric under the trees, etc.  The girls wore purple and our linens at the reception were purple.  I carried purple roses.</div>
