Invitation Help - need your opinions.

OK...I DIY'd my pocket invites from a BRIDE's kit and added my own personal touches. I made a ribbon band for them that was originally going to go around the outside of the invitation closed as per the photo below:

But then I was thinking people were going to throw out that cute litle eggplant touch (the rest of the invitation is silver and white with the exception of the print of our names and the name of the reception venue which are eggplant) as soon as they opened it. So I played with it and came up with this (sorry for the way the pic is...i took it with my cell phone)...

the pic doesn't really do it justice - but the eggplant looks really nice on the pocket line. (the reception card comes out and has other cards behind it in the pocket (not pictured) and people wouldn't need to take it off (ie throw it out). BUT...now the outside looks really plain - take another look at the first picture and imagive it without the ribbon and tag.

Thoughts? TIA! :)

  • I definitely like it on the inside - that's the most important part anyway.
  • i was thinking about adding something else to the outside - some kind of purple touch to break it up...but what?

  • I think it looks really nice on the inside.  Be careful how much you add to your invite...it has to be completely smooth to be able to go through the machine at the post office, or the cost of postage will go up!
  • I kind of like it on the outside....I'd leave it as is.

I think you might be overthinking this one just a little bit.  Realistically, they are eventually going to throw away the entire thing anyways!

<div>That is exactly why i didn't want to spend a lot on the invites to begin with - every bride friend said they wished they hadn't spent so much on their invites when i asked them if they could do something different. Right now, everything is ok as far as weight and texture. however, they are harded to get in and out of the envelopes when the ribbon is on the outside. I was thinking may be a stamp with purple ink on the outside?? i don't know. i am probably definitely over thinking it - it looks fine on the outside but it just looks so good on the inside. hahahh</div>

  • I like it better on the inside.. plus what if it falls off or gets ripped on in the mail?

  • They look awesome, but I think it would be better if it was on the inside.
