Looking for INEXPENSIVE room rental

Hello all -

Today is my first day of calling around for a venue for our wedding. Second wedding for both of us.  We are looking for something SIMPLE; however, we might have up to 50 guests.

In the perfect world - we want.......  Sunday late morning (10 am ish) wedding on the beach followed by a catered kosher laid back brunch.  We are not having a band/DJ.... instead we will celebrate the simach with some Israeli dancing followed by noshing Smile.

We are looking for rooms without caters attached so we can use our own kosher caterer..
We are LOOKING for the most inexpensive we can find.

(if it was up to me - we would be eloping - however, our friends who have been waiting 25 plus years for this to happen - won't allow us to elope!)

We would love it to be a COMMUNITY ROOM or a EVENT ROOM on the beach - right off of the beach either in MB, NMB, Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale....

Again - CASUAL is the key word here.

Does anyone know if CHABAD's rent out space in their centers in South Florida?

Does anyone know if any condominum's rent out space in their COMMUNITY - SOCIAL room.

We  NO LONGER live in S.FLA - but we are both from there (MB - NMB) ...... doing this over the phone is frustrating!

Suggestions - advice - would be GREATLY recommended!

Thanks,
E & J

Miami Beach has a recreation center they rent out for meetings. Its in a great location just north of the convention center.

    Here's the website:

I don't know how helpful this is, or if it's what you want, but we are having our farewell brunch at the South Beach Chickee Hut, on Hallendale Beach. It's an outdoor pavillion, but a large area- just steps away from the beach! It seats about 50, totally covered, and in a nice little area with plenty of parking.

If you want something inside, Hollywood has a bunch of indoor facility rentals. We were looking at one, I think the Garfield Community Center, but opted for the pavillion instead.

Temple Beth Shmuel (the Cuban congregation) and Temple Emanu El are both close to Miami Beach and affordable. (I will put in a note that Emanu El was awfully run down and dirty when we visited a few months ago but I heard they are renovating). If you are Orthodox, the Shul of Bal Harbor is really nice but I don't know their caterer situation. May I ask which caterer you are using? If you have questions about synagogues in Miami, let me know. I checked all of them out! :)

    Hello -

I just called the SHUL of BAL HARBOR (Surfside) and left a message.  My understanding is that it is "Chabad" which would be perfect because we are Chabad also.

    I also called CUBAN HEBREW.
I have heard Emanu El is a mess - so I didn't call them yet.

I haven't delt with caterers yet; because I figured I would first figure out where we were having the event and if they required their own caterers - but it has to be catered Kosher.

Any suggestions - please offer advice.
    Thanks,
    Eva
