Down the aisle...

Traditionally, the bride's father walks her down the aisle. My father passed away when I was 9 and my mom remarried when I was 13. Though my stepfather and I have had our moments both good and bad, I am considering having my older brother walk me down the aisle. How should I explain this to my mom and stepdad? I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I also want to do what I feel in my heart is the right thing for me...

[QUOTE]<strong>As parents of the bride they will already have a special position. Just tell them that you wanted to honor your brother. Your stepfather could always walk your mother down the aisle instead of an usher.

I agree 100%.  It's okay if your brother walks you down especially if you are really close with him, your folks would understand.

Are you going to be doing some kind parent dance?  Because if you do you can dance with your stepdad there. (if you want of course)

    Best wishes and good luck
  • I'm having both of my parents walk me down the aisle, as they both raised me and I don't think its fair to my mom to only have my dad walk me down. I don't think it is necessary to have your father walk you down the aisle, I don't even think you need anybody to walk you down the aisle. Your stepdad loves you and I'm sure he will understand your choice.
It happens when you're not looking.

Once you ask your brother to do the honors, I would think the two of you would talk about it quite naturally.  You don't really need to explain it to anyone.  Good luck!
