late night snack ideas

Hi everyone, I need some ides

We are having a 4:30 wedding followed by a cocktail hour, dinner, dancing etc to 1am, all at the same location.  We are going to serve our cake as the only dessert  so it gets eaten and not wasted (coconut cake with mango buttercream filling!).  We would like to serve a snack late in the evening for all the people still around drinking and dancing.  I think I would like to have something savory instead of a dessert station, no one wants chocolate after drinking beer.   Any ideas??

I guess it depends on the formality of your wedding.

Around here, coney dogs are popular, so people set up a station with hot dogs, chili sauce and multiple fixings.

You could do a taco/nacho station, or order in pizza.

Another thing that's becoming popular are "sliders", the little hamburgers like White Castle makes. If your venue can make them, you could serve those.

Baked potato station, or mashed potatoes in martini glasses with various toppings?

Think about your guest list and consider what they'd go for in a drive-through restaurant after a long night.......burgers or Mexican?

Can I ask who your caterer is, they sound fun and interesting?

I'm using a caterer in the RI Area bec I'm getting married in Newport. The name is Russel Morin. I'm actually not doing the late night snacks because we are incorporating very similar things in our cocktail hr and station reception. We are doing things like the black angus beef sliders with sweet potato fries served with choc cherry milkshakes, grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, lobster mac in cheese, pizzas, sushi etc etc and then doing passed desserts like creme brulee and cran apple crisp in addition to the cake. That was only about half my menu so I thought anymore would go to waste. But they all sound delish to me and I sort of wish we had room for them! But our party is ending at 11 so I dont thinl people would be ready for them if we serve our cake at 10. Hope the ideas helped though!

FI is Syrian and we are bringing in Arab and Othodox elements to the wedding, so for late night snack - Syrian Egg Rolls. My favorite!!!

Others - popcorn, hotdogs, sliders, chinese, taco bar, loaded fries or nachos

Del's Lemonade!!! I lived in RI (Bristol, to be specific) for a summer internship. Newport was gorgeous and Del's was DELICIOUS!

I think, after drinking and dancing, most people (at least 20/30 somethings) are looking for something a bit more unhealthy. I know I'm always craving salty stuff! From my experience as a guest, I think the fancier menus (late night, I mean) tend not to go down as well (and by that, I mean, guests tend not to eat them) as much as comfort food does. Mac & cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, egg rolls, samosas... finger food tends to fly off the shelves.

We did malasadas, which are essentially cinnamon sugar coated fried dough (we had vanilla cream filled ones). They were gone in seconds.

Thanks for the great ideas everyone.  Those are exactly the kinds of unhealthy things I was looking for!

Kaesha, are you Portuguese?  My FI is Portuguese and I think he might love the idea of malasadas since they are pretty traditional. What a great idea

In Illinois pizza or nacho bars are fairly popular and a few different caterers we looked at had those as late night snack choices.  I've also seen ice cream sundae bars done and they're a lot of fun.

Have you thought of possibly doing something like Portuguese "street" foods.  Foods you can have on a stick or that are popular finger foods that your FI loves as the snack?  Ask your in-laws for some ideas, they might be able to help you figure out what kinds of foods their side of the family would love to see and do the same with your parents.  It never hurts to get their input!

I'm not Portugese! But, there's a HUGE Portugese community in Hawai'i, which is where I got married, so malasadas are a huge thing there.

    Mmm. Sooo tasty!

My fiance's dad is the VP for a management group of 17 McDonalds restaurants. As much as I don't personally like food from there, we are getting a bunch of hamburgers and cheeseburgers brought in for a late night dancing snack. I think our guests will enjoy it with a few drinks under their belt!

yummy yummy! My venue requires me to use their catering so I have limited options but I would love to do something like this. I think there will be a lot of drinking going on so it will be good to have something to soak it all up :)

I'm hell bent on having a cheese fries station. When people are drinking, they want cheese fries... mmmm...

I've always liked really casual food for a late night snack when everyone has thrown off their shoes.  Like wings and potato skins or something.  Or like a few people have said, burgers or hot dogs.

FI is a Portuguese and his mother is arranging a crazy midnight seafood buffet, she says it is a Portuguese tradition (I think it's just an excuse for more food, he he he!). We will have crab legs, shrimp, mussels, oysters, etc. as well as a sweet table.

But I personally agree that something salty/unhealthy/greasy is the best at the time, LoL! French fries in cute paper cones would be amazing.

We're going to do two kinds of sliders (burgers and pulled pork BBQ) AND fries with cool dipping sauces.

    The best part:

In addition to regular fries, we're having funnel cake fries!  They. are. awesome.

    Other things we thought about:
    Grilled Cheese
    Loaded French Fry Bar
    Chicken Tenders
    Wings
    Taco bar

I really want to do Shipley's Kolaches - if you are ever in the Houston area, it is a must!  :-)

In Winnipeg Canada, where I lived most my life. The midnight buffet was a mixture of cold cuts, cheese, pickles, rye bread, condiments there were also fruit platters, veggie and dips, chips. Mini quiches were big too. Then there would also be some sweets

It is not fancy but trust me there was never any left.
