Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Ceremony music

I am not a traditional kind of person at all and I don't really want traditional ceremony music. My fiance and I are both metal/deathcore fans and was wondering if it would be a bit too much to use perhaps an intro or an outro (not too heavy obviously, don't want to do a disservice to everyone who comes!).

Thoughts?

Re: Ceremony music

  • I would search for acoustic covers of your favorite metal songs. There are a lot of acoustic/orchestral recordings of heavier music these days, and while it's obviously not the same style of music you love, it would at least incorporate it in a way that more of your guests would appreciate a little more. :)

I think you should do whatever you like... If you think it's appropriate for your wedding then go for it.  You know your guests best.  Your wedding should be a reflection of you and your FI, and doesn't have to be cookie-cutter.

For us that meant using a song from Moulin Rouge, some traditional oldies, and classical Bach music.  For you it may be something different.

I might keep the really upbeat/rock stuff for the recessional since it is more of a "party"/upbeat atmosphere at that point, typically the procesional is rather serene/suspenseful/contemplative.
  • Oh boy I can't stand Metallica lol but I get where you are going with it. There would be no lyrics because the bands we listen to are a bit profane haha and I doubt I could find any orchestral recordings because it's not like 80s hair metal or Ozzy/Pink Floyd/Black Sabbath we listen to. But that is a good idea, I've heard some bands do acoustic covers of their own songs so I'll have to do some digging.

  • What do you listen to? My FI and I listen to a lot of different music, including metal and have seen some impressive stuff on youtube- string, guitar, piano covers. If you have a group or song in mind, you might be able to find an arrangement that works for you and your guests.

  • Right now I'm thinking "Pouring Reign" by As Blood Runs Black and/or "Devoid" by Whitechapel. Maybe something off of Chelsea Grin's first CD. They have a couple instrumentals too!
