Sascha and other hotties

I'm curious about your skin care routine, for several reasons.
a) You're hot and I refuse to believe it's ALL just from nature because if it is then I'm screwed.
b) I found my first gray hair about a week and a half ago. I am not excited about that.
c) I remember you talking about taking care of your skin, and since my routine involves dove soap and oil of olay moisturizer and nothing else, I think I need help. I'm still young for now, but I feel like I need to be doing something preventative.

So, sascha or others, help me to never look old! Product recommendations, eating tips (I need to improve my diet anyway, and since avoiding wrinkles helped me to quit smoking I figure this might kick me in the butt if I find a miracle skin food or something), routine hints, any advice you have!

Sorry, to butt in, but Sascha for the longest time I thought you were Latina.  That is all.

EDIT:  Drink lots of water.  I'm a 30-something who gets mistaken for a mid-twenty something routinely.  I think a lot of it has to do with genetics and disposition.

I'm not classifying myself as a hottie, but I'm pretty darn cute.
  • My skin care regime:

    Shower in the morning.

Maybe splash a little water on my face.

Dry off with the same towel as yesterday.

    Works like a charm.

  • I'm throwing myself into the hottie category.

I do nothing--with the exception of washing my face at night. I've gotten into the routine of not wearing make-up, so my skin stays fairly clear.

That being said, I hardly eat junk food/fast food--and eat tons and tons of veggies and fruit. When I was a big fan of the fast food--my face showed it by being extra oily.

  • well, I was hot a long time ago

I use Kiehls moisturizer on my face and stay out of sun for the most part.  I used tan year round and had to have some major sun damage removed.  ouch!
  • Ha thanks. I do wear makeup, but not that much. I haven't really had an issue with breakouts, I just want to be as non-wrinkly as possible. I think the gray hair just freaked me out. I guess I'll just keep up the Oil of Olay. If I don't use any moisturizer at all my face peels off :)

  • Start now with Retin-A for wrinkle prevention ;)  Also works to clear your skin.  Go super easy on it though - too much is DEFINITELY too much...  If you don't get breakouts, try Renova instead...
  • Thank you...I love talking skincare! This will be a long post! And coffer I hear it all except what I am...British and Cherokee.  I hear Greek, Arabic, Latin...which is cool because they are all hot:)

First of all...I have been getting greys since I was 24.  I have a million right now.  I use box dye...L'Oreal Preference soft black.

Lifestyle...I like to say the liquor preserves my skin:)  I do try to eat veggies and omega-3 salmon and tuna and I just started flax seed oil.  I have been bad with tanning and not wearing sunscreen, and stopped about 6 months ago because I have been getting brown blotches on my face.  Like a mustache above my lip and a some blotchiness on my chin and nose.  I have never smoked.

I do admit to botox on my forehead, but only once every year or year and a half.  I started at 27 and it is preventative because it stops you from wrinkling your forehead and prevents the lines from forming.  I like eye wrinkles though...they show emotion.  Forehead wrinkles look mean and tired.

    Skincare...next post:)

  • Thanks! I guess I should also mention that my biggest wrinkle fears are my giant double chin and excess eyelid skin. Not sure what helps with that :)

  • For me, a glycolic acid product works very well at keeping my skin texture smooth and helps with maintaining a glow.  I wear Peter Tomas Roth at night with 10% glycolic.  It burns a little but it is just eating dead skin cells.  I have also used Renova products but I get the most results with glycolic.  Roc makes an excellent drugstore line with retin A in it.

If I could only splurge on one product it would be eye cream or a serum for the face to be worn under moisturizer.  I used to use Revive eye cream but it got so expensive.  I now use Kinerase...which is an excellent product.

Skinceuticals makes awesome Vitamin C serums, which help repair antioxidant damage to the skin.  I like either a vitamin C serum, a glycolic, or a Retin A based.  I use Kiehls oil free during the day.

I do a mask sometimes from Kate Sommerville which has enzymes that eat away all the dead dull skin and give you a pretty glow.

I use a salicylic acid cleanser, which keeps pores clean, but Cetaphil is just fine.  Cleansers do not need to have any special ingredients because they are on your face so briefly.  Toners are useless.

I do like Oil of Olay for drug store products also.  Just stop the Dove soap...it is drying your skin.  It is great for the body and ok for oily skin, but you should not be flaking and using soap.  Try Cetaphil instead.

Oh, and I do drink a lot of water.

  • Thanks again! I feel like I just took a college course in skin care :)  Ok so I think I'll start with Retin-A and then maybe an eye cream.  Now to see if I actually stick to a routine. Maybe this will be my new years resolution. I think I'm more likely to take care of my face than my body, but hopefully I'll do both :)

  • sascha, is this the product peter thomas product you use?

  • Yes, that is the brand!  Right now I am using the cream not the gel, since I use it as a night cream....but that would be great for oily skin or under a moisturizer at night.

Tlv...I have an expired esthetician license and I worked in skincare for years at Neiman Marcus...I love it and would go back to selling it if shoes weren't so much more lucrative.  I could talk about skincare forever...just need to be updated on all the new technology!

You actually have 2 of the same concerns as me.  My mom barely had wrinkles, just heavy eyelids and the neck thing.  I have found tht the 2 eyecreams I have used actually help me with that.  I have gone through months without using them and see a visible difference.

The chin is a different story.  I am currently obsessed with the fact that my jawline is disappearing into my neck.  I love my siggy pic because you can't see it.  I am not sure how to fix it.  I need to try some neck creams, but not sure how effective they are.

  • I use neutrogena for sensitive skin products.  My skin isn't too picky, I lucked out in the acne department...as long as there's no fragrance, I'm good.

However, I didn't luck out with the facial hair.  I have my monthly waxing appointments. I think I got my dad's facial hair.  Thanks pops.

As for hair, I get it colored, I get lots of greys around my temples. I started going grey when I was 18.

I actually went through a phase for a few years where my cheeks would break out badly. Switching to powder mineral foundations really cleared up my skin. Now I only use a liquid foundation for special occasions and use Skinceuticals for my daily skin care and my skin really does glow. It's the one thing I have going for me these days haha. So thank you!
