Wedding Coordinator/ planner budget question

  • Where my fiancé and I are getting married is on a farm. They give you the tables and chairs to set up yourself.  We want to hire someone that will come in and set up tables, chairs, linens, floral arrangements along with break everything down at the end of the wedding. We were wondering how much should we budget for this? What is the normal price range for a wedding coordinator for a day to do all this? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
          Thanks so much!

Really it all depends on the coordinator.  We paid (mandatory) $500 for our coordinator.  That was supposed to include a pre-wedding meeting, rehearsal, 100% day of coordination, setting up of tables for the wedding, and removal of chairs at the end of the night.

    She met with us.
    She did the rehersal.
    That's it.

It also varies on your area.

I agree it varies on the area.  The day of coordinators that we interviewed ranged from $1200-$1900.  They all included several meetings leading up to the wedding, help with the contracts, and unlimited day-of coordinating.  I asked around a lot about this, and the overwhelming response I got (from friends that had one and friends that did not) was that it is worth every penny to have a DOC.  Of course, make sure that you do your research and check references.

I agree with the above comments. Just make sure that when you are interviewing planners you tell them everything you need them to do. Some will charge a base price but will charge extra for setting up tables, linens, flowers, etc. Most caterers set up the tables and chairs and put the linens on the tables and most florists set up the centerpieces. If the planner knows about this ahead of time she will be able to employ extra hands to set it up to your specifications.

I agree it seems to be worth every penny to hire a wedding coordinator. I actually was referred to someone that my friend knows. So I know she does do a good job with weddings. Thank you so much for all the input.
    So thank you!
