Adding Color

I have a question and I'd like some opinions, if you will!

My reception site charges an additional $3-5 per person for colored napkins and tablecloths..I could care less! 

I don't want it to look empty and colorless, though. I was thinking tall vases with hydrangeas (green) for the centerpieces, but I wanted to add color on the table.

I'm not really into rose petals, but is there anything else you could suggest to add color to a colorless table? My colors are black, white, and green.

    You can add a runner to the table in green or black.  You can buy them for less than $3 at linentablecloth.com and there's coupons and free shipping, so you'll be paying less than that.  You're also able to sell the runner afterward. 

    Are you having menus on the table?  This could be a way to add some color.

    What is pinspot lighting?

    I haven't decided on centerpieces yet! I think maybe tall hurricane glasses, with hydrangeas in them. I might wrap the vases in vellum paper that either I paint or print (from my computer) a black and white pattern. That might sound weird but in my head it sounds cool!

    Candles and menus are also good ideas, thanks!

    I'm not sure if the reception hall will be okay with me bringing in table runners though...they have runners (white) already and it costs more $$ for an upgrade (which we don't care enough to pay 100 extra bucks for!??) 

    We were planning on getting married next August, but there was a HUGE deal for March, so now I'm kind of in fast forward mode!!!

    My hall includes white floor length table cloths and white napkins.  I found doing colored overlays was the best way to add a pop of color.  It offers more color than just a table runner (although table runners are a great option, too!).  I like the table overlays because you can still see the white underneath and then the white napkins will pop against the color.

    You can look at rentals or purchasing online... depending on your region- one or the other will be cheaper.

    You can always add color with favors and/or menus too!

    PS. there is always the fear of too much color.. so don't be afraid to not have enough if you don't want to spend $ on it... a lot of vendors get rich by convincing brides they absolutely must have certain things-- much of it isn't necessary

    You could scatter pebbles, marbles, or sea glass around the centerpieces if you don't like rose petals. You can add color with table names and place cards too, if you're doing those. You could also set the favors out on the tables if you're doing them in colored boxes or whatever. Since you're doing green for the flowers you could set out votive candles in black holders, then you would have all of your colors on the table.
