How's a girl get in on this?

I wanted to be Mary Anne.

    I think I had about 150 of these books.  And the board game <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />

Mine are somewhere in the garage at my parents house. I know exactly what the box they are in looks like, but it's buried somewhere in with the hundreds of other boxes, so I have no idea when I might ever actually find them.

Comforting to know I'm not the only one.

I also always think Sweet Valley University when I see Law and Order SVU

My favorite character in the BSC  was always Mary Anne. I understood her whole shyness thing, except I was surprisingly not as bad as her. She was extreme, like sulking in the corner of a school dance if something embarrassing happened that wasn't even that bad or running out of a surprise birthday party, especially since the only surprise was a cake.

  • Another BSC fan here!!!  I gave away all of my books a few years ago but kept two of the superspecials to have around for guilty-pleasure times.

My favorite was Kristy.  I loved how she never took sh*t from anyone.

Anyways, just this past spring Parade Magazine published this Q&A in their letters section -- looks like there's going to be a prequel book coming out!

Q: Ann M. Martin just released a new Baby-sitters Club novel. Please tell me that she plans on writing more - she still has a lot of fans! - B. Marie, Darien, Illinois

A: "The Summer Before" is actually a prequel that tells how the Club's original four members first got together. Martin's publisher, Scholastic, will also be reissuing the original BSC titles to join the 176 million already in print. As for new Baby-sitters Club books, "Never say never," Martin says. "When the series ended (1986-2000), I told my editor that I would never write another. But the prequel was a lot of fun - so who knows?"

OK.  Just did a little checking.  CNN was premature in it's story.  The shows creator wants to do the movie and the two Lorelais would like to see it happen.

    Wow! Thanks for posting this!

A prequel would be refreshing. I stopped reading the series after the club members stopped getting older. How many summers, spring breaks, winter vacations and days of school can there possibly be before you graduate into high school?

It was the same with Sweet Valley. It all stopped making sense. Between the kids, middle school, seventh grade, high school, senior year and University, it all became so inconsistant.
