Return Address Labels?

I really want to put my return address labels on the envelope flap (opposite side from the guest's address).  My reasoning is mostly because I am a little bit anal and I think the envelope looks too crowded with both labels on the same side.  I just like the look of it with them on opposite sides better.  I know I have seen this done before, but someone told me that I might get them sent back to me if I do this.

I really don't want to get 150 invitations back to me...do you guys know if this is okay for me to do? Or should I just suck it up and do it the normal way with them both on the same side?

I've never heard of letters being returned because the return address is on the back flap.  Actually, I'm working on my invites too and I read that etiquette says to put the return address on the back flap, not on the front.  I've put my return address on the back flap and that's how they are going to be mailed!

LOL, I just got one invitation returned yesterday, and my address was on the back!  I read that it's more formal to do it that way, so it's actually preferred for wedding invitations.

ETA: By returned, I mean it successfully made it back to me.  It was returned because I had the guy's address wrong, not because the post office didn't like that I put my return address on the back.  As far as I know, everyone else received their invites just fine!

I have always placed them on the back with everything "official" and I've never had a problem.

My understanding of why they sometimes get returned with the return address on the back is because it looks too similar to the front so the post office gets confused.

But as long as its obvious, it shouldn't be a problem
