Vintage BM dresses

My fiance is a retired Marine who will wear his dress blues on our wedding day. Our solution to the color situation --aka, avoiding a 4th of July look-- is to put our guys in navy suits and my bridesmaids in navy blue/ivory print dresses. Our accent color will be a pale shade of chartreuse green (using green hydrangeas for flowers). Problem is, I'm having a hard time finding the kind of dress I'm thinking of. I'm looking for a 1950s-inspired, halter top, sweetheart neckline, knee-length, navy blue/ivory floral print dress in a $100 and under budget (may be willing to go a few bucks over that). I like the look of some Anthropologie, ShabbyApple.com and ShopRuche.com dresses. Any ideas where I might be able to find some options? (Online or local)

A lot of the girls on the Vintage board have done 50s looking weddings. They might be able to help. Have you tried the modcloth or unique vintage sites yet? Dress Barn has some 50s inspired dresses. We did 1950s e-pics and I got my dress there. They might not have floral stuff right now, but probably will this spring.

Ok, I'm glad that you're not really going for vintage dresses! I also love the look, but I know it's really hard to find vintage dresses for curvier girls. I had a variety of shapes and sizes in my WP, and they loved the Anthropologie dresses that I got them.

I'd second looking at Mod Cloth (although some people don't like their quality) or uniquevintage.com. It would be hit-or-miss, but I'd also check Ann Taylor Loft. Althoughf or under $50, you might have a hard time finding exactly what you want, unless it goes on sale.

ETA: Oops! Sorry, I misread your budget. I'd also check out JCrew.

Have you checked out Etsy? There are quite a few vendors on that site that make custom vintage inspired designs. I did a quick search for "vintage halter" and found this one. You can choose your own fabric and size and it is under 100 bucks (link below).

There are seamstresses in the area that will make dresses. I know Louise Kegley does (I think she made veijes' BMs' dresses and someone else's, but I don't remember who).

DItto pretty much everything everyone else has said. THe dressmaker in Edina is another option, my mom had her dress made by them. Considering the type of fabric you're looking for, the cost will vary, so keep that in mind if you decide to have them made.
