My engagement story

Thanks so much everyone for your warm welcomes!  I'm excited to join you ladies and get lots of great ideas here.

I live in CT, but grew up in Massachusetts (just north of Worcester).  We have a lake house in NH that my parents inherited from my grandparents.  It's very rustic, but we are there quite often in the summer.  It's my favorite place in the world.  We call it "camp".

My dad called me at work on Friday and said that they had brought the boat up to camp that morning but had accidentally left the keys in it and forgot to shut off the heat.  He said that they had plans and my sister was busy, so would it be ok if FI and I went up to get the key and shut off the heat.  It's a three and a half hour drive from here, but my dad does a lot for us, so we went.

We left after work and got up to NH around 10:30.  FI suggested that we check on the boat first.  When we got down the path to the dock, the boat wasn't there.  I turned and was like "um, where's the boat?"  FI pointed to the end of the dock and said "What's that?"  He had painted Will You Marry Me on a piece of wood and had flowers and champagne waiting for us.  When I turned around, he was down on one knee.  I don't actually remember what he said, but we were both shaking and I remember being afraid that I was going to drop the ring in the water.

He then brought me up into the house and had me close my eyes.  He led me into the middle of the living room and turned on our song.  I opened my eyes, and he had strung Christmas lights all over the room, with pictures of us from the last four years.  We danced and it was so cute.

SORRY!  That was so long!  Anyways, thanks again for the warm welcome :)
