Bridesmaid shoes

I know that if I want a specific shoe in a specific color I need to pay for it, but I don't love that super uniform look. The girls are wearing black and the colors are a jewel tone and silver/grey neutral. Can I just say they can buy any jewel tone shoe? I don't care about style or heel height or if two end up with purple. I just want the girls to be comfortable. If I only specify "jewel tone" is it proper etiquette for me to pay for them?

Nope, if you're just asking for a specific color (in your case, a range of colors), it's fine to ask them to pay, because they can choose to either buy something or wear something they already have.

I didn't realize that if you specified the shoe you were supposed to pay for it. Whoops. I am glad nobody has called me out on that foul. I don't think you should have to pay for them if you are that broad. What girl wouldn't wear jewel toned shoes again? Especially sine you aren't asking for stilettos.

My rule of thumb is be open about what you want and then offer to help pay. My girls haven't taken me up on it yet but everytime their outfits come up I am sure to re check that they don't need any help.

I don't own any jewel tone shoes, but if a friend asked me to buy a pair to be a BM, I would have no problem with it. I think that jewel tones cover a wide enough range that you are in the clear not to pay for them, especially because any style is fine.

Not sure what color your girls dresses are but you mentioned black as one of your colors. Would their outfit work with black shoes (which most women own a pair of comfortable black dress shoes & if they don't it would be a good addition to their closet) and then have fun with the jewel tones with their jewelry?
